More Unusual Suspects: Slot Overview
Sometimes in life, less is indeed more, but at other times, more is more. If you're in the mood for the latter, why not come take a peep at More Unusual Suspects from Games Global studio Northernlights? More Unusual Suspects comes hot on the heels of Unusual Suspects, reviving all the best bits, such as the Big Bass Bonanza levelling up free spins round, while adding on Bonus Perk Picks and jackpots.
The locations in More Unusual Suspects have kinda changed this time, though the action stays in a downtown built-up urban jungle as before, inspired by New York City. The base game provides a nighttime view of the metropolis, while free spins are held in a dingy back street alley crime scene, accompanied at all times by swanky jazz tunes and some immersive voice-over work. Goodies and baddies return, plus a lineup of extras appear during the Bonus Perk Pick. All in all, More Unusual Suspects has a satisfying cartoon quality, making it easy to knuckle down, catch some crooks, and attempt to grab some guap.

Players have three ways of attacking More Unusual Suspects. The regular way is choosing a bet of 20 c to $/€15 and tapping away on the spin button. The other two methods are a gamble for free spins option and a bonus buy option. All come under a math model that is medium volatile and available in three RTP settings, the highest one being 96.06%. A 5-by-4 gaming grid is where the action is conducted, and there are 20 paylines for evaluating wins.
All of the pay symbols in More Unusual Suspects award cash for hitting winning combinations of 3 to 5 of a kind, starting from the leftmost reel. They are made up of 10 to A striped royal low pays, then handcuffs, a gun, dynamite, and a bag of money highs. Hitting a line of 5 card ranks pays 1 times the bet, or 2 to 10 times the bet is paid when landing 5 identical picture symbols.
More Unusual Suspects: Slot Features

Wild symbols are every bit as important in this version as it was in the last, as you will see while keeping an eye out for the Bonus Perk Bar, Scatters Nudging Respins, Bonus Perk Pick, Big Boss free spins, Vault Jackpot Bonuses, a buy bonus, and gamble.
Wilds & Detective Wild Bonus
Wilds can land anywhere, substituting any regular pay symbol and paying 20x the bet for a 5 wild line. Each wild that lands also leaves behind an x1 sticky frame, which can increase up to x5. When golden wilds hit, they spawn wilds or add more golden wilds onto the reels. When Detective Wilds hit, they fill each sticky framed position on the reels with a wild symbol. Any multiplier on a winline is applied to it for this feature. The Detective Wild Bonus can trigger from free spins and the base game. In the base game, all sticky frames are removed after a Detective Wild Bonus, whereas in free spins, the frames remain until the end of the round.
Bonus Perk Bar
Landing 2 scatter symbols adds a token to the Bonus Perk Bar. Collecting 50 tokens fills the bar, and when full, an extra bonus perk pick is granted at the start of free spins. When the extra bonus perk has been used in free spins, the bar resets and its progress is saved per bet.
Scatters Nudging Respin
Should 2 scatters land on the top 3 rows, Nudging Respins trigger. Any reels with a scatter are held and nudged down one row while the other reels respin. This feature continues until a scatter reaches the bottom row or until 5 scatters land. After each respin, tokens are added to the Bonus Perk Bar.
Free Spins & Bonus Perk Pick
Landing 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols awards 10, 15, or 20 free spins, respectively. Five suspects appear on the screen for players to click one at a time. If they reveal a red cross, the pick feature ends, and free spins begin. If the Bonus Perk Bar is filled, the extra bonus perk is awarded. Perks available from the picking process are these and are added to the round:
- Boost Perk – unlocks the first Big Boss on the free spins trail. Awards 5 extra free spins with an x2 multiplier.
- +2 Spins Perk – 2 extra free spins are granted.
- +Frames Perk – adds a random selection of frames to the reels.
- +Wilds Perk – awards more wild symbols.
- +Detective Perk – awards more Detective symbols.
In free spins, when Detective symbols land, they not only trigger the Detective Wild Bonus but are also collected on the Bonus Trail:
- Collecting 3 Detectives unlocks Big Boss 1, granting +5 free spins with an x2 multiplier.
- Collecting 6 Detectives unlocks Big Boss 2, granting +5 free spins with an x3 multiplier.
- Collecting 9 Detectives unlocks Big Boss 3, granting +5 free spins with an x5 multiplier.
- Collecting 12 Detectives unlocks Big Boss 4, granting +5 free spins with an x10 multiplier.
When free spins end, there is a chance one Getaway spin is randomly awarded. A Detective symbol lands on the Getaway Spin.
Vault Jackpot Bonus
When gold bar overlays appear on the screen, they are collected in the vault next to the reels. Collecting gold bars randomly triggers the Jackpot Bonus. Players click vaults to reveal 3 matching jackpots to win the corresponding prize. These are the Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand worth 20x, 75x, 1,000x, or 5,000x the bet.
Buy Bonus & Gamble
From the buy bonus, players can buy the free spins round for 100x the bet, or you can gamble for free spins on an adjustable gamble wheel. Saved tokens are not used when buying free spins or gambling into them.

More Unusual Suspects: Slot Verdict
Unusual Suspects was already a fun cops 'n robbers game and Northernlights has managed to go one better when designing More Unusual Suspects. After ploughing through that set of features, there is no denying More Unusual Suspects does indeed have more to it than the original slot. Pretty much all are positive additions, though some stand out more than others. To get the niggles out of the way first, the jackpots felt a little unnecessary. Not that many people are going to say no to the chance of winning up to 5,000x from a pick-a-vault feature, but it might have been more interesting to win that RTP allocation in other ways. But, More Unusual Suspects does come from a Games Global studio, and at times, you get the impression a 5K jackpot feature is almost mandatory in their slots.
The free spins round is where it's at, and the pre-feature perk pick is a neat touch. Not just because it fits like a glove with the crime theme, but on an eyeball level at least, getting extra Detectives or extra wilds did seem to make a noticeable difference to a free spins round. Lining the screen with frames, then having the Detective blast wild symbols onto them, can be a hoot, and the fact a Detective lands on the Getaway spin makes winning it a highly desirable outcome at the end of a free spins round.
One less favourable observation was the crotch-kicking quality of the free spins gamble feature. Despite having the wheel on a 50/50 red and green setting, it chewed through money like a ravenous beast, triggering a bout of repeat rage gambling. Not saying the numbers, in the long run, are questionable, but it might be worth test-driving this feature in demo mode if you're tempted or just buying free spins cos it could be ruthless. Just saying. On the positive side, winning potential is mentioned as over 8,000x at the home screen, which isn't a bad number for what is another charming cops and robbers game from Northernlights.
More Unusual Suspects lives up to its name by being a broader crime game than the original.
