One of the more left-field releases of 2020 is set to get even more hyperactive thanks to the addition of a bonus buy option. Nitropolis was a hit that felt a little out of a character for ELK Studios, but one which synthesised an intoxicating blend of features and potential in a strange game world. In Nitropolis, players walk a post-apocalyptic earth sans humans, run by four animal clans in their place. These adorable, albeit psychotic critters, are obsessed with collecting green Nitro to power their hot-rods.
When you factor in up to 85,155,840 ways to win it sounds completely mental, but somehow Nitropolis makes it all work. Partly responsible for so much pandemonium are Nitro Reels, which not only ram extra symbols into a single position but are locked during free spins. Pile these babies up, and you’re on your way to an impressive 10,000x your bet – should the engine redline.
The petrol head theme is apparent on the big block engine scatter, where you previously needed at least 3 in view to trigger the bonus game. From January 26 this is no longer the case, when the new bonus buy version of Nitropolis comes online.
The reworked Nitropolis will give players 2 options to choose from:
- The lesser one costs 100x the total stake and lands you anywhere from 3 to 6 scatters, awarding 10-25 free spins. This one triggers the standard Free Spins Bonus round where players benefit from locked Nitro Reels, and one randomly selected scatter pay symbol.
- Number two is a nuclear option called the Super Bonus, which costs 300x and does things a little differently. With this one, players also get a guaranteed free spins retrigger on top. Not only does this provide extra free spins, it crucially adds an additional scatter pay symbol to the mix.
There is great video footage of Nitropolis hitting its 85 million-plus win ways, so the game is more than capable of delivering thrills. With the introduction of two bonus buy options and the huge popularity that Nitropolis has already shown, there is no doubt going to be more clips floating around. The question used to be which of the four clans to root for – Dirty Dawgs, Gritty Kitties, Pug Thugs, or Rouge Rats? For keen Nitro-ites, it’ll very soon also be which bonus buy option to pick.
