Pack & Cash: Slot Overview
It’s hard to believe, but not that long ago people had to order items by mail, phone, or maybe fax if the company in question was high tech. Then several weeks later, perhaps more, the item in question would finally arrive on your doorstep. These days, that process sounds like the dark ages. All it takes these now is a few thumb presses on your phone, and the hottest new consumer item can be there later that day. A huge contributing factor to this home shopper’s paradise is an army of people working tirelessly in delivery depots scattered around the world. It is these unseen heroes of consumerism we turn to in Play’ n GO‘s uniquely themed slot Pack & Cash.
Pack & Cash is a 5-reel slot, with 1,024 pay ways located in the heart of a depot next to shelving, boxes, a forklift, and other miscellaneous warehouse paraphernalia. It looks like a jolly pleasant place to work, very light and open, much like the final section of an IKEA store when you have to pass by all of the boxes to get to the cash register. What makes it so cheerful is the soft lighting and the way everything has a stop motion animated look to it, like an episode of Bob the Builder or Pingu.
The game comes with Play’n GO’s standard range of bets starting at 10 p/c on the lower side, rising to £/€100 on the upper, and may be played on any device from smartphones to desktops. Though volatile, it’s not extremely so – Play’n GO has rated this aspect of the math model 7 out of 10. Default RTP, meanwhile, comes in at 96.20%, yet as ever, be on the lookout for lesser configurations of 94.2% or even lower.
Symbols are as cheerful as the rest of the game, where we find 9-A card royals, packaged rubber ducks, footballs, trophies, and sweet boxes in the shape of hearts. A line of five royals pays up to 0.4 times the bet, while the same number of premiums is worth 0.8 to 3 times the bet. Pipping them all for value is the suitcase ‘W’ wild symbol worth 5 times the bet for five of a kind. As well as being the most valuable symbol in Pack & Cash, wilds substitute for all symbols, except scatters.
Pack & Cash: Slot Features
You don’t play Pack & Cash to discover a world of innovation, but what you will find is a set of features that are well-proven performers. Starting with the cascade feature, on each spin, 20 colourful symbols drop onto the 5×4 grid with the aim of landing three or more identical symbols adjacently to each other from the left-hand reel. When this happens, winning combinations are removed. New symbols are provided to fill the empty spaces to potentially form new wins. The process is repeated as long as new wins are continually created. At the same time, a win multiplier increases by one each time winning symbols are removed from the reels, resetting again before the start of every paid spin.
Look out for the Express Package mystery symbols appearing randomly on any initial spin – paid or free. When Express Packages appear on the reels, they transform to reveal the same matching random symbol. This could be anything except the scatter. Between 3 and 8 Express Packages may appear.
On any non-winning spin, the Special Delivery feature may trigger – 1 of 2 modifiers are activated, each one guaranteeing a new winning combination. These modifiers can be played more than once on a spin, in any order, up to 3 per spin. The modifiers are:
- A wild symbol is added to a random position anywhere on the first three reels.
- A Symbols Remover is activated to remove random pay symbols from the grid (does not increment the multiplier).
Should 3 or more scatters symbols land, free spins are triggered. The number could be anywhere from 3 to 20 and is determined by the location of the scatters symbols on the grid. The current win multiplier carries over from the base game and does not rest between free spins, only increasing, with no upper limit. Express Packages are more frequent in the bonus game, and scatters remain in play, so it is possible to win up to 75 free spins.
Pack & Cash: Slot Verdict
Please excuse the puns, but Play’n GO has packaged an unusual theme with familiar features to deliver a tight performance. Once again, Play’n GO’s busy schedule has pushed the team to conjure up a unique topic to make their game stand out from the bunch. Some studios might choose to redo older slots in their catalogue or ram out some generic theme, not so Play’n GO, who have selected a topic most would easily overlook. Not every studio receives something in the post and thinks it would be a good idea to design a game about the delivery process that brought it there.
So the theme is unique, yet the features are less so. Still, Play’n GO has picked some good ones to drive the action, so they certainly don’t let the game down. Each mechanic or modifier complements the other, and the game is presented in a typically slick Play’n GO manner. Other positives include getting the win multiplier in all phases of the game, not just during free spins, which isn’t always the case. Potential is a highlight too, where wins of up to 10,000x the bet are possible, with a probability of 1 in 100 million spins of occurring.
You might not learn a lot about the intricacies of logistical planning while spinning Pack & Cash, but you’ll find plenty of entertainment in its place. Like a well-oiled delivery outfit, Pack & Cash is the picture of efficiency. Everything runs as it should, stats are solid, and features are all high functioning favourites.
