Prosperity Lanterns Slot

Prosperity Lanterns takes Pocket Games Soft into extremely familiar territory, using a Chinese lantern festival as the setting for a Prize Symbol-focused slot. Temple architecture, dancing lions, gold and colourful lanterns create a pleasant enough atmosphere, but there is little visually to separate it from the countless other Chinese-themed releases on the market. The gameplay is similarly straightforward at first, although the expanding Bonus Game gives the concept considerably more life.

Played on a 5x3 grid with 20 paylines, Prosperity Lanterns has an unusually strong 96.77% RTP alongside high volatility and potential reaching 10,000x. Dancing Lions act as Wilds, while Prize Symbols can appear anywhere carrying values between 2x and 50x. These values aren't collected during ordinary spins, instead becoming relevant when either of the game's two bonus features activates.

The Mini Bonus can trigger randomly during the base game and provides 3 spins on a special grid containing Prize Symbols. New Prizes reset the counter to 3 and float towards the top of the grid. Completely filling a row applies a multiplier to its collected values, with the three rows offering 2x, 3x and 5x respectively. The round ends when the spins expire or the entire board has been filled.

Landing at least 6 Prize Symbols triggers the main Bonus Game, which starts with the same 3-spin structure but allows the grid to develop further. Filling a row collects it and removes it from the board before another row is added underneath. Each new row brings a progressively larger multiplier, beginning at x10 and eventually reaching as high as x1,000. This creates a clear progression system as successful rounds continue expanding downwards.

The difference between the two bonuses is significant despite their similar foundations. The Mini Bonus provides an occasional break from regular spins but has relatively limited scope, whereas the main feature has an obvious objective as completed rows make way for increasingly valuable multipliers. Reaching those later stages is where most of the game's excitement lies, particularly given the otherwise uncomplicated base game.

Prosperity Lanterns isn't likely to attract much attention through its theme, and PG Soft has produced considerably more distinctive-looking releases. Mechanically, however, the Bonus Game is better than the generic presentation suggests. Watching Prize Symbols fill rows before pushing towards multipliers that can eventually reach x1,000 gives the feature a satisfying sense of progression, while the RTP is another notable positive.

It's a simple package with a rather forgettable exterior, but the expanding bonus provides enough substance to make Prosperity Lanterns more interesting than its familiar lantern-filled setting initially implies.
