Rolling in Treasures: Slot Overview

Hard hats and picks, check? Seems we're ready to trundle below ground with software provider Pragmatic Play in the online slot Rolling in Treasures. It's a mining-themed game that presents the act of bashing rocks to uncover rich stuff in a pretty generic way, though its multiplier feature, working in tandem with a scatter pays mechanic, is not without merit. If you want to see how that works or just have a love for burrowing underground alongside pickaxe-swinging Santa Claus-looking miner guys, feel free to join us on the dig.

It seems a studio has two options when making a mining slot. One, squeeze the creative juices to push out something that looks fresh and original, or two, give in to temptation and make something easy and generic. Rolling in Treasures is closer to the latter, hosting the game in a could-be-anywhere type of mine of rocks, train tracks, and honky tonk music. A fairly stock mining guy is here too, standing next to the grid holding an enormous gold nugget in his hand. He looks friendly, though. Nothing wrong with the graphics, but there's not much to see here that you won't find in the online mining slot starter kit.

Symbols pay anywhere on the grid, so as long as 8 or more matching symbols are in view, a winning combination is created. Winning symbols are removed, and a symbol drop occurs to refill the grid. This repeats as long as new wins keep appearing. A 6x5 grid is where Rolling in Treasures is played, and players may stake $/€0.20 to $/€240 per round. Highly volatile, Rolling in Treasures' max RTP comes in at 96.5%.

Five gem chunk symbols are accompanied by picks, lanterns, hard hats, and gold carts on the paytable. The largest combinations contain 12 or more matching symbols, and they award 2x to 50x the stake. Wilds do not land in the game.

Rolling in Treasures: Slot Features

Rolling in Treasures gets its roll on via multiplier overlays, free spins, and feature buys.

Multiplier Overlay

At random in the base game, after a tumble, the winning symbols may appear with an x2 multiplier. When this happens, new symbols appear with a multiplier increased by x1 for each subsequent tumble. The multipliers of winning symbols are added together, and they multiply the win of each winning combination that those symbols are part of. Multipliers reset at the end of the spin.

Free Spins

Hitting 4, 5, or 6 scatters in the base game awards 10, 15, or 20 free spins, respectively. During this feature, after the first tumble, new symbols appear with an x2 multiplier. Then, for every tumble that happens during the round, the multiplier of new symbols appearing increases by x1. Landing 3 or more scatters triggers an additional +5 free spins.

Ante Bets & Feature Buys

Two special bets are available as well. The ante bet costs 5x to make triggering free spins 17 times higher, while super spins cost 10x to guarantee the multiplier overlay feature in the base game if there is a win. Free spins cannot trigger from super spins. By paying 100x the bet, the free spins round can be triggered. Upping the payment to 250x buys super free spins 1, where multipliers increase by x3 instead of x1. Or, for 1,000x the bet, the super free spins 2 starts multipliers at x2 and doubles them after each tumble up to x256. When buying free spins, 4-6 scatters randomly trigger them.

Rolling in Treasures: Slot Verdict

The thing with mining slots is that if you've seen one, you've kind of seen a lot of them, since graphically they stick to a pretty tight script. Rolling in Treasures doesn't do a whole lot to deviate from it either, so if the thought of standing around underground in another nondescript mineshaft with a bearded miner hoping to hit paydirt makes your eyes glaze over as you stare vacantly into the middle distance, then maybe hit the skip button on Rolling in Treasures. It's got a fairly interesting multiplier effect, but it does get bogged down by the cartload of mining slot cliches.

Anyway, back to the multiplier feature, which is a little bit like the Sugar Rush multiplier position concept, but here multipliers are tied to symbols rather than cells on the grid. In some ways, it's more random, less easy to track, than having clear values on the reels, but change can be good, as can the results. Best hits by a wide margin came from the super free spins 2 buy, and Pragmatic Play has really been pushing this combination of three feature buys and special bets. Must be popular, and having multis double each time rather than just adding 1 can make an enormous difference. But a 1,000x feature buy in a game with a 5,000x max win is… interesting, let's say.

Pragmatic Play has several mining slots under its belt already, from Mining Rush to Drill that Gold and beyond, evidencing a strong affinity with all things subterranean. Rolling in Treasures makes for an okay addition to the collection, but it did come across as the sort of production that is less a passion project and more a mandatory entry into the company's vast catalogue.

Bigwinboard Summary

Rolling in Treasures sticks closely to well-worn mining slot conventions, offering a serviceable multiplier twist but little personality or ambition to lift it above Pragmatic Play’s routine output.
