Sheeple: Slot Overview
Even when putting legality aside, there are ethical lines that most rational law-abiding members of the public have no desire to ever come close to. Others, like the chaps in today's Shady Lady shocker, have absolutely no qualms leaping clear over those lines with wild abandon. The slot is Sheeple, and like the concatenation of the words 'sheep' and 'people', the game looks at the genetic possibility of concatenating two very different species. While you wrap your mind around that concept, know that on the reels, this translates to merging symbols, splitting symbols, and attempting to connect as many of them into wins as possible.
If someone is going to splice two completely unrelated species together, they probably want to do it as far from prying eyes as possible. Especially if their plans for the resulting hybrids aren't exactly scientific. As such, we find ourselves out the back of beyond in Sheeple, in an isolated rural location, that offers little hints at the diabolical deeds taking place within. Seriously, gamblers might not be able to look at those charming red wooden barns that have graced countless slots in the same way again. Admittedly, the party really gets going in the barn, since free spins are held there, but it's not the sort of party most people would want an invite to, on account of the bizarre human, animal interactions.

One of the game's critical elements is ways to win, and by default, it comes shipped with 1,024 ways on the 5x4 grid, but the number can grow when symbols are split. On the subject of volatility, Shady Lady rates Sheeple as 9 out of 10, and has designed an RTP of 96.3% as the highest of the three options. The store is as stacked as ever with feature buys, while the base bet range is $/€0.10 to $/€50.
In Sheeple, the low-value symbols are considered to be the Lanolin and the bottle of alcohol, awarding 0.3x the bet for 5-of-a-kind. Following them are four sheep with green, blue, yellow, and red backgrounds, linked to four farmer symbols with the same coloured backgrounds. Five-of-a-kind sheep wins pay 0.4x-0.5x, rising to 0.6x-0.8x for the farmer symbols. Wild symbols do not appear in the game.
Sheeple: Slot Features

Moving on to features, where symbol merging occurs via Sheeple and Mega Sheeple symbols, the Barn Buster may occur in the base game, plus bonus rounds and super bonus rounds may be triggered, while the Store is stocked with copious feature buys.
Features
- Sheeple Merge - On any spin, if a farmer symbol and a matching coloured sheep symbol are adjacent on the same row, they merge into a Sheeple symbol. The Sheeple symbol covers both of the original potions, and can form wins with the corresponding farmer and sheep symbols. When a merge occurs, all corresponding symbols are also split. If more than one of the same type of Sheeple symbol is formed, the symbols are split again, increasing the split count by 1.
- Mega Sheeple - If two different Sheeple symbols are adjacent on the same row, they may merge into a Mega Sheeple. The Mega Sheeple covers all of the original positions and can form wins with the corresponding farmer and sheep symbols. When a Mega Sheeple appears, all farmer and sheep symbols associated with either of the merging Sheeple symbols increase their split count by 1. In the base game, a Mega Sheeple will not form, though it is guaranteed to do so in the Barn Buster feature and the super bonus. During the regular bonus, there is a 68% chance.
- Barn Buster - On any base game spin, the Barn Buster feature may trigger. When it does, all low-value symbols are removed, increasing the chance of matching farmers and sheep creating Sheeples.
Bonus Games
Landing 2 non-adjacent Broken Heart symbols on the two rightmost reels triggers 6 free spins. During the bonus game, the number of low-value symbols is significantly reduced. If the 2 Broken Heart symbols land adjacent to each other, 6 free spins in the super bonus are awarded. Low-value symbols are completely removed for this feature.
Store
At the store, players can activate boosters, bonus buys, Highlight Reels, and Loot Boxes. The Bonus Boost and Big Bonus Boost cost 1.5x and 5x to increase the chance of triggering a bonus, while a guaranteed Barn Buster can be bought for 13x. It is possible to trigger the bonus game at a cost of 74x, the super bonus for 523x, or enhanced bonuses at 128x to 1,595x the bet. Buying the best 3 spins from 100, 300, or 500 spins costs 77x, 190x, or 283x, or Loot Boxes have price tags of 186x to 571x. Sheeple also has a new Loot Vault option at 1,000x the stake.

Sheeple: Slot Verdict
Sheeple's premise might be absurdist, but it's not as far from reality as it may seem. Take David Ishee from the Netflix docuseries Unnatural Selection, an ordinary dog breeder from Mississippi who used CRISPR gene-editing techniques in an attempt to create glow-in-the-dark dogs in his backyard lab. However, Shady Lady wasn't content with just probing ethical questions around genetic editing. From there, the studio probes taboos further by emphasising a romantic angle, as well as bizarre Merged symbol imagery, which was a little uncomfortable. Each to their own and all that, but there are ethical lines (not to mention laws), and well, these farm boys have no qualms leaping over them with gusto.
Beyond the dubious subject matter, Sheeple is able to splice its features together in potentially thrilling ways. The goal is to get those Sheeple and Mega Sheeple symbols on the reels, split a bunch of corresponding symbols, and with the power of expanding ways to win, knock out a solid result. Split symbols are nothing new, and the Sheeple symbol could have been a relatively okay effect on its own, but the way Sheeple's can then link with both corresponding symbol types opens up a bunch of interesting possibilities. Winning potential is capped at 20,000x the bet, so there is plenty of room for the mechanics to function.
In Sheeple, Shady Lady proves it is willing to tread ground other studios avoid, in a slot that goes heavy on shock value, blending dark humour with a provocative theme. While some developers focus on familiar, safe settings, Shady Lady has opted for a more confrontational presentation designed to provoke reactions and stand out visually. Underneath that, however, are some decent mechanical ideas, such as the merging and splitting combos. It's an odd one, and whether Sheeple goes a little too deep into uncomfortable territory or actually works depends in large part on players' tolerance for edgy presentation versus their interest in the actual underlying gameplay.
Sheeple pairs provocative, boundary-pushing presentation with surprisingly solid mechanics, creating a bizarre but mechanically engaging slot that won’t be for everyone.
