Trillionaire Megaways: Slot Overview

The wealthiest person in the world in 1901 was Andrew Carnegie, possessing a fortune of around $380 million. In 2001, Bill Gates led the list with a net worth of $58.7 billion. At this rate, cracking the trillion-dollar mark in 2101 feels like an inevitability. The next big number on the list is a quadrillion, or 1,000 trillion, or 1 followed by 15 zeros. That would be enough to buy all the property on earth (as of 2022) twice. The mind boggles at that sort of buying power, and for a taste, just a taste, of what it might be like (with a healthy dose of imagination), here is Red Tiger's wealth slot, Trillionaire Megaways.

Trillionaire Megaways is a follow-up to the 2021 slot Trillionaire, which was made in conjunction with FashionTV. It was fine, if you're into games that look blinged to blazes but actually pack minuscule winning potential. Times have changed, and Trillionaire Megaways differs from the previous Trillionaire slot in more ways than one. Appearance has been altered, and the emphasis has shifted from full reel divas and diamonds to a male trillionaire character and a 'glamour girl' in a lavish multi-storeyed building. Racking up stacks of dollars to buy fancy stuff to flaunt remains the overriding objective, however.

Trillionaire Megaways is played on an ornate 6-reel Megaways grid. Each reel lands 2 to 7 symbols per spin, altering the number of ways to win up to 117,649 when maxed out. The game is a high-potential one that is also highly volatile. Players can stake 20 c to $/€2 per spin, and the RTP comes in at 95.68% when doing so or 95.65% when buying features.

Fancy consumer items are Trillionaire Megaways' high pay symbols, such as a watch, a fragrance, shoes, a bag, and a bracelet, paying 0.4 to 10 times the bet for a 6-of-a-kind win. From there we find 10 to A card rank low-pays, awarding 0.2-0.25 times the bet for 6 OAK. The wild symbol substitutes all pay symbols and lands on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5. The wild expands on the whole reel and displays a symbol multiplier of x2 to x7, showing the number of symbols it represents in the ways calculation. The symbols forming winning combinations are removed from the reels, making spaces that are filled by symbols dropping down. Chain reactions repeat with no limit until no new win is created.

Trillionaire Megaways: Slot Features

Trillionaire Megaways' box of tricks includes reactions, the Trillionaire symbol, Price Tags, Gift Boxes, Bonus Prizes, a free spins/hold & respin hybrid bonus round, and feature buys.

Trillionaire & Price Tags

In the base game, the Trillionaire symbol can only land on the rightmost reel. When hit, the Trillionaire awards the cash prizes of all Price Tag symbols and the bonus prizes linked to Gift Box symbols on the reels. Price Tag symbols land on all reels except the rightmost reel. They carry cash prizes of 0.5x to 10x the stake. When one or more Price Tag symbols land with a Trillionaire, their combined prize is awarded.

Gift Boxes and Bonus Prizes

There are 4 Gift Boxes with bonus prizes shown above the reels. They are the 25x Mini, the 100x Midi, the 1,000x Maxi, and the 10,000x Mega. These bonus prizes are won when the corresponding number of Gift Box symbols land at the same time as a Trillionaire symbol - 1 Gift Box awards the Mini, 2 Gift Boxes award the Midi, 3 Gift Boxes award the Maxi, and 4 Gift Boxes award the Mega. Gift Boxes land on any reel except the rightmost reel.

Free Spins

Landing 3 or 4 scatter symbols on reels 2 to 5 triggers 10 free spins. The bonus is played on a 6x3 grid when triggered by 3 scatters or a 6x4 grid when triggered by 4 scatters. During the round, only blanks, Price Tags, Glamour Girls, or Trillionaire symbols may land. When the number of free spins gets down to 3, the feature transitions to a hold & respin phase where each new landed symbol resets the number of free spins to 3.

When a Price Tag symbol lands, it remains on the reels until the bonus ends or when collected by the Glamour Girl symbol. When a Glamour Girl symbol lands, it collects all Price Tag symbols on the grid, storing their combined value. Collected Price Tag symbols are removed. The Glamour Girl remains in its position until the feature ends, collecting any new Price Tag symbols that land. If 2 or more Glamour Girls are present, each of them collects the Price Tag symbol values that land. Glamour Girls do not collect each other's values.

When one or more Trillionaire symbols land, each of them doubles the value of all Price Tag and Glamour Girl symbols on the grid. If the total cash prize reaches 10,000x, a Trillionaire symbol cannot land. The feature ends after it has shifted to the hold & respin phase, and no symbol lands for 3 consecutive spins, or all positions are filled with locked symbols.

Feature Buy

The feature buy allows players to buy the free spins round for 70x the bet or buy a spin with a Trillionaire symbol and at least one Price Tag or Gift Box for 15x the bet.

Trillionaire Megaways: Slot Verdict

Aside from things like the name and an obsession with all things expensive, Trillionaire Megaways is a very different game than the original Trillionaire slot was. Instead of being a repeat of the first slot, just stretched to fit Megaways, Red Tiger has completely changed the skin while rejigging the features in the process. If they'd put a different name on here, it would actually be hard to spot links between the two slots. Maybe the music. That's no bad thing either, as the first slot, while looking exceptionally glamorous, was quite weak and not particularly exciting.

Trillionaire Megaways has taken many things in the opposite direction. Winning potential, for one, has been blown through the roof, and while it won't cause anyone to achieve actual trillionaire status, its 35,841.4x max multiplier makes the original's 1,000x look sad and small. Perhaps the studio felt it had to make the most of the dual licences - one from Big Time Gaming, the other from FashionTV Gaming Group. Whatever the reason, that's a big number for a Red Tiger slot. The features are fairly big-ish to match, though, at the same time, they're also a little pedestrian. Money symbol collecting, hold and wins, they're both common features. What's less so is the free spins to hold & respin transition, which occurs in the bonus game. It's not a bad way of throwing a lifeline to a lagging free spins session, if the hold & respin phase can get on a decent repeat win roll.

Wealth-themed slots are ever popular, and Red Tiger has made another one which sparkles. Trillionaire Megaways has less personality than Trillionaire did largely on account of those supermodel symbols, but it beats the original with a spiky heeled shoe in just about every other department.

Bigwinboard Summary

Trillionaire Megaways offers decent features and flashy potential, but its generic mechanics and lack of personality hold it back from true greatness.
