Wild Wild Bass 3: Slot Overview
Anyone out there who feels like we're running a deficit of bass-themed online slots can rest assured casino game makers are more than willing to continue producing them. Here's another one of them, this time from developer Stakelogic, going by the name of Wild Wild Bass 3. Like in the two bass games that came before, the Big Catch and the Insane Catch feature remain Wild Wild Bass 3's more original elements, though some may argue three times in a row wipes out much of the originality. However, Wild Wild Bass 3 also has a free spins round, which the others lacked, so let's check it.
Like its predecessors, as well as fishing games in general, Wild Wild Bass 3 provides a bright, outdoorsy experience set at sea where fishies float and the sun beats down on a happy-looking scene. There's not much else to say about the front end of Wild Wild Bass 3 other than it's about as cheerfully presented as any other fishing slot gamblers are likely to run into.
Wild Wild Bass 3 is played on a 6-reel gaming grid with rows arranged in a 3-3-4-4-4-4 pattern, which has 2,304 ways to win, yet this number increases to 5,625 during some of the features. Stake selection is 10 c to $/€200 per spin, and the three main bonus rounds may be bought from the buy feature menu if players would like to skip the base game altogether. Hitting spin sparks a highly volatile math model to life, generating a default RTP of 96.04%, though this number can be lower depending on where you play.
Onto the paytable, where 9 to A card ranks make up the low pay symbols, worth 1-2 times the bet for a 6-of-a-kind win. Or, landing 6 tackle boxes, rings, floats, birds, or rods, put 2.5 to 15 times the bet in your pocket. Fisherman wild symbols appear only on the first two reels, substituting for all regular pay symbols, and used to trigger certain features.
Wild Wild Bass 3: Slot Features
The Big Catch and the Insane Catch features make a repeat performance and are this time joined by a free spins bonus round for good measure.
Landing 2 wild symbols trigger the Big Catch feature. Reels 3, 4, 5, and 6 extend by one position, and any Bass money symbols in view are collected. Bass symbols land on reels 3-6 only and display a cash value when they're in view. By extending the reels, the ways to win increase to 5,625.
This feature is triggered when an Insane Catch symbol lands during the Big Catch or by landing 2 wild symbols plus the Insane Catch symbol on reel 6. When this occurs, 2, 3, or 5 spins are awarded where reels 1 and 2 are converted to a single multiplier reel. On each Insane Spin, a multiplier of x1 to x10 appears on the multiplier reel, while reels 3-6 spin 20 independent positions. Only Bass, Insane Catch, or blanks land on reels 3-6 during the round. Bass money values are awarded on each spin, and the multiplier is applied to them. At the start of each Insane Catch spin, the grid is cleared. Landing Insane Catch symbols adds additional spins. In addition, mystery symbols may land during the Insane Catch round. These symbols reveal a random multiplier of x2, x3, x4, or x5, which multiplies Bass symbols on the reels before the reel multiplier is applied.
Scatter symbols appear on reel 6. Landing 2 wilds and the scatter awards 10 free spins. In free spins, wild symbols are collected when they land. For 6 collected wild symbols, the win multiplier increases by +1. The win multiplier is applied to the total win at the conclusion of the free spins round. Landing 2 wilds plus a scatter retriggers +5 additional free spins.
Wild Wild Bass 3's bonus buy lets players get free spins for 100x the bet, the Big Catch feature for 50x the bet, or the Insane Catch feature for 100x the bet.
Wild Wild Bass 3: Slot Verdict
Reviewing Wild Wild Bass 3 did admittedly trigger a few dark thoughts along the lines of the overabundance of fish games, the lack of originality in much of them, and the desire for cashing in on the success competitors may have garnered by their own efforts. Mix that all together, and you've pretty much got something like Wild Wild Bass 3 on your hands. Apologies if this sounds a little on the acidic side, but ploughing through yet another bass game was hard going, what with the proliferation of fish slots and the fact Wild Wild Bass 3 is number 3 in the series. But it's got bits the other two did not have, so fans of the first two WWB games have something new to try.
Okay, not hugely new since the additional feature is a round of free spins with a growing win multiplier. The multiplier is applied at the end of the round, as we saw recently in Nine To Five, rather than on the spot when wins occur, which is a little bit outside the norm. It's not a bad feature, though, so there are no complaints over its inclusion. Shame winning potential has been left the same as before, though, as a win cap of 10,000x the bet is set in place in both the base game and free spins. Of course, sequels don't have to offer bigger wins, but they do come across a little on the strange side when they don't.
Some may not mind Wild Wild Bass 3 having the same figure on board if they prefer the look of the free spins rounds, as it's not a bad one. However, a new bonus round didn't do much to lighten the Sisyphean task of reviewing fishing slots. Then again, let's not moan too loudly. Spare a thought for future generations of gamblers being served Wild Wild Bass 69 or Big Bass Bonanza 420, or something like that in the 26th century. Shudder.
Wild Wild Bass 3’s new free spins round did little to make yet another bass-themed slot more palatable.
