Wild Wild Bison: Slot Overview
Here's a thought-provoking stat for you folks. According to an article at Our World in Data, when measured by biomass, wild mammals account for just 4% of the mammal kingdom. The rest is made up of 62% livestock, such as pigs and cattle, and 34% is us, humans. We haven't been around long in the grand scheme of things, but already, humans have dramatically altered life on Earth. Not sure what to say about that other than, hey, here's Wild Wild Bison from developer Stakelogic, a slot so wild they had to name it twice? That and the fact it is more or less a clone of Wild Wild Bass 2, which in turn was similar to Pragmatic Play's slot Wild Wild Riches. And so, like the circle of life, the circle of slots continues to turn.
When entering a bison slot, you're very likely to be entering a North American game world, which appears to be where we're at for Wild Wild Bison. A pretty world it is, too, of dry yellow plains, swaying trees, and towering mountains. A few bison linger about the place, looking 'wild' in the free sense of the word rather than the raging one. Eh, it's a bison slot; there's not much else to say about the presentation other than all pleasant so far.
Wild Wild Bison's gaming side of things takes place on a 6-reel grid with reels holding 3-3-4-4-4-4 symbols each – increasing when the Wild Rush feature triggers to 3-3-5-5-5-5. Before then, let's pick a stake where the options are 10 c to $/€50. Wild Wild Bison doesn't have a Super Stake ante bet, but it does have two feature buys. It seems that no matter how players take to the game, the default RTP is 96.07%, and volatility high.
On the smaller grid size, 2,304 ways to win are available, which grows to 5,625 with the extra symbols during the Wild Rush feature. Wins pay left to right, from the first reel onwards, and 3 to 6-of-a-kind wins are possible. Hitting a 6-matching symbol win made up of the 9 to A card ranks pays out 1 to 2 times the bet, rising to 2.5 to 15 times the bet for landing a way of 6 eagles, wolves, cougars, black bears, or brown bears. Our bison buddy is printed on the wild symbol, which lands on reels 1 and 2. Wilds' basic duty is to substitute for any pay symbol.
Wild Wild Bison: Slot Features
Wild symbols are also needed to trigger the Wild Rush feature, which stampedes alongside Bison Coins, the Gold Rush feature, mystery symbols, and bonus buys.
Landing wild symbols on both reels 1 and 2 triggers the Wild Rush. Reels 3, 4, 5, and 6 gain an extra position. Bison Coins may land on reels 3 to 6, displaying a random money value as a multiplier of the bet. Any Bison Coins landing during the Wild Rush award their values. Should a Gold Rush symbol land on reel 6 during the Wild Rush feature, then Gold Rush is triggered.
Gold Rush symbols only appear on reel 6, and landing one at the same time as 2 wild symbols triggers the Gold Rush feature. Then, 2, 3, or 5 Gold Rush spins are awarded. For Gold Rush spins, reels 1 and 2 merge into a single multiplier reel. On each spin, the multiplier displays a value between x1 and x10. Reels 3, 4, 5, and 6 change into 20 independent reels, landing only Bison Coins, Gold Rush symbols, mystery symbols, or blanks. On each Gold Rush spin, any Bison Coins are awarded, and the multiplier is applied. At the start of each spin, the grid is cleared. Landing Gold Rush symbols adds extra Gold Rush spins.
Mystery symbols may land anywhere during Gold Rush spins, revealing a random multiplier value of x2, x3, x4, or x5, which is used to multiply any in view Bison Coins.
From the bonus buy, players can get the Wild Rush feature for 50 times the bet or go larger and buy the Gold Rush for 100 times the bet.
Wild Wild Bison: Slot Verdict
It would be hard to call Wild Wild Bison a game full of surprises. In fact, the most surprising thing about it was how soon it was released after Wild Wild Bass 2, the game it is structured on. Great news for players who go all weak at the knees at the thought of another cash symbol collection game, about as exciting as waiting for a lift to arrive otherwise. Not to downplay Wild Wild Bison's positives, it provided a pleasant, if unmemorable, review session after all. But it just came along so soon after the game it's built from, which in turn closely resembled Wild Wild Riches, as mentioned.
To be fair, Stakelogic's two Wild Wild games are bigger and arguably do more unusual things. For instance, the 10,000x max win isn't half bad, and the grid contains a lot more ways to win. Wild Rush can be a bit so-so and was the least attractive of the two bonus buys. However, the Gold Rush feature should be right up the street for certain cash collector aficionados. It's nice the way symbols are cleared on each spin, and having an ever-present multiplier (even if it can be x1) throughout the round is handy as well. We'd call it neatly different for fans of this style - if Wild Wild Bison wasn't a repeat performance.
Now, we're as keen on fish-themed collector slots as the next person, probably, maybe, but it is a nice change when the collecting is carried out by another member of the animal kingdom. Although both fish and bison could be accused of being overdone in the online slot world. What can you say? Developers like buffalo, and so apparently do a lot of players, so for a fairly unimaginative yet enjoyable enough bison-themed cash-collect game, Wild Wild Bison might just fit the bill.
Wild Wild Bison is an all around decent game, but what amounts to essentially a bison-themed reskin is hardly the stuff of dreams.
