Emberfall: Slot Overview

Emberfall: Slot Verdict

Like Ragnarok, Emberfall is not a delicately constructed slot with elaborate intricacies that piece themselves together just so. Rather, Slotmill took beefy slabs of features and slapped them together to create a barbarian of a game which just wants to punch things. The progressive win multiplier is one such device, and whether the studio was inspired by Yggdrasil Gaming's DoubleMax mechanic or not takes nothing away from its potency. Pound down a win, double the multiplier; it's as simple as that. What's new, and could very well be a first, is that the doubling multiplier works with a scatter-pays win system instead of the win lines or ways we are used to seeing. For fans of scatter wins, and this would appear to be a growing crowd if the proliferation of scatter-paying slots is any guide, Emberfall is essentially a must-see.

The game's supporting features are just as uncomplicatedly brutal and work hand in glove with the scatter win, Avalanche, win multiplier trio. Due to the larger (than Ragnarok's) grid size, Giant symbols are even more giant than before, maxing out at 4x4 (or 16 symbols), and having a Multiplier Boost in a double-up multiplier game is always a plus. The review, at times, unfolded much like the features themselves - brutally, and returning positive results from bonus buys wasn't always the easiest task. Then again, Emberfall is very highly volatile, and slots where the multiplier doubles on each Avalanche, the good ones, can go boom in a very distinct and hugely entertaining way. No doubt Emberfall has the ability to do so, and it's able to reward lucky players with up to 15,000 times their bet if they can manage to go all the way.

Just for the sake of having a nag, aside from the scatter pays element, there isn't a huge amount of Emberfall that's white-hot original, per se. But it's not hard to put those notions aside for a moment and immerse yourself in a chunky fantasy unreality for a bit and attempt to witness a scatter wins mechanic butt heads with a doubling up multiplier feature and see what sort of fireworks potentially result.
