Cake & Ice Cream: Slot Overview

Got cravings for cakes and ice creams but aren't sure which one to choose? Well, here's the third option – both, which is available in an online slot from software provider Red Tiger titled Cake & Ice Cream. Set within Cake & Ice Cream's tooth-rotting, belt-busting world is a scatter symbol Instant Prize win gadget, and a couple of potential feature buys that plunge players right into the heart of the action.

Thematically speaking, Cake & Ice Cream takes the time-honoured candy slot theme and runs with it. Practically everywhere your eye wanders, it bumps into something unhealthy yet delicious. It begins with a cotton candy background, undulating away like a jiggling jellyfish, boasting a bunch of snacks on sticks. In the middle of the screen is a golden rimmed game grid, where symbols land, while above it is the Candy Ladder, displaying Instant Prize values. Like the features, Cake & Ice Cream's aesthetics are nothing especially new, but they should brighten your day if you're in the market for a fluffy candy game.

Cake & Ice Cream is played on a 5-reel, 3-row grid, with 20 fixed ways to win. It's available on any device, and when playing in the default manner, paid spins cost 10 p/c to $/€40 each. When doing so, the game generates a return to player value of 95.81%, dipping slightly to 95.72% when buying one of the two features.

Along the 20 paylines, wins occur when identical symbols hit on consecutive reels starting from the left. All of the normal pays are sweety related, starting with candy-looking clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades for the low pays, then wrapped sweets, lollipops, ice cream cones, and two cakes are used for the premium symbols. Hit a five-of-a-kind winning line, and payouts of 2-3.5x the bet are coming your way for the lows, 4 to 15x the bet for five premiums. There's no wild, so the rest of the action is triggered by the scatters.

Cake & Ice Cream: Slot Features

Cake & Ice Cream slot - mega symbol

There's not a whole lot to cover in this section, and most of what's here has been seen many times before. The key is the Cake & Ice Cream symbol, which can land in regular size or super-size. Land enough of them to trigger an instant prize win from the Candy Ladder.

Cake & Ice Cream

Hitting at least 6 of the 1x1 Cake & Ice Cream symbols anywhere on the reels triggers an Instant Win, represented as a multiplier of the bet. When 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, or 15 Cake & Ice Cream symbols are in view, players collect a win worth 5x, 15x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, 500x, 750x, 1,000x, or 2,500x their bet, respectively. All prizes are clearly labelled on the Candy Ladder.

Super Cake & Ice Cream

Cake & Ice Cream can land in regular 1x1 size, but also in 2x2 or 3x3 variations. These Super Cake & Ice Cream symbols can land fully or partially in view. Each Super Cake & Ice Cream symbol is broken down into the relevant 1x1 sized Cake & Ice Cream when evaluating wins from the Candy Ladder.

Feature Buy

If available, clicking the buy feature button presents two options. Paying 10x the bet buys the Cake & Ice Cream option while paying 75x the bet triggers the Super Cake & Ice Cream variant.

Cake & Ice Cream: Slot Verdict

Yeah, okay, it's pretty much 9 Masks of Fire with a candy setting and a touch of Yggdrasil's Gigablox mechanic. What else is there to say beyond that, really? Clearly, there is a market for this type of thing – variations on Instant Prize wins triggered by scatters are consistently released in great numbers. This time the gaming's been dressed up in a cotton candy, pastel outer cover. Have we had that before? Perhaps not, so 9 Masks completists might be fired up to knock Cake & Ice Cream off the list. Otherwise, there's not a lot else here to offer the non-converts.

On the other hand, Cake & Ice Cream does possess one thing few, if any, others in this category have to offer. This is the buy bonus option - where available, which could well be a shiny attraction for the right player. It means you can cut through the regular base game spinning and get straight to the scatter parts. Again, it doesn't specifically say each buy guarantees a win, yet it seemed to do so during testing. It did get a little tedious, repeatedly landing lower numbers of Cake & Ice Cream symbols, effectively going nowhere. But hey, this is gambling, rolling the dice and all that, and all it theoretically takes is a few extra Cake & Ice Cream symbols (Super or not) to return a positive result. At best, you're looking at 2,500x the bet, which is an okay figure for this style of game, yet there is far larger for those chasing down bigger potential wins. Just For The Win, for example, offers a few, Western Gold 2 being one alternative with a significantly higher max win figure.

So the bonus buy was quite fun, but in markets where buying bonus rounds is prohibited, Cake & Ice Cream is basically a run-of-the-mill 9 Masks game with sweeties. There's nothing new or very special, though, nor is there anything terrible about it. If you really must play every scatter Instant Win game on the market or like the idea of insta-buying scatters, then picking Cake & Ice Cream makes sense. If not, then passing the saccharine sensation will hardly be the end of the world.

Bigwinboard Summary

Cake & Ice Cream largely recycles what preceded it, but its two bonus buys might be the just enticement some players are looking for.
