Deal or No Deal Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Overview

How many people sitting at home watching Deal or No Deal think they can beat the banker? Well, here's your chance. Thanks to Blueprint Gaming, we now have yet another version to play out of the countless others available on the digital slot shelves. The Deal or No Deal television show is quite big in several countries, including the UK, and fans of the show will feel right at home here. Blueprint Gaming has managed to pack in most of the show’s best bits such as selecting boxes, phone calls from the banker, and the tough take it or leave it choice. The only thing missing is Noel Edmonds, which could be a good thing for a lot of people.

Noel might be gone, but in his place, we get the ever-popular Megaways game engine from Big Time Gaming. This provides 6 reels that spin vertically with up to 7 symbols on each, and one more along the top with 4 more symbols. There are no paylines as such, but win ways up to 117,649 when the reels are maxed out. It matches the theme nicely, fitting in with the box selection part of the game. Moreover, with the cascading reels mechanic in play, winning combinations disappear from the grid letting other symbols fall into place, which can create cascading winners.

Medium to high variance, stakes start at 20 c/p and go up to £/€10 per spin. That might not sound too tempting for high rollers, but bear with us, the high winning potential might just be worth it. Hold any reservations while we deal with the symbol values too. Due to Megaways cascading wins and multiple win ways on one spin, individual winning combos seem a little low. First up are the card royals 9 to A which are then followed by symbols of the show – a question mug, ‘B’ seal, sealed envelope, and game logo for 0.3x – 50x the stake for a 6 of a kind combination. The Wild appears above the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th reel and substitutes for any symbol except the scatter.

Deal or No Deal Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Features

Deal or No Deal Mega Bonus

Deal or No Deal has quite a selection of extras so it’s best if we break them down one by one. First up is the question mark icon which is the Mystery Symbol. Appearing on all reels, more than one can land at once. When they do, they all flip to reveal the same matching symbols, which could be anything except the scatter.

When you land more than 3 consecutive win cascades, the Deal or No Deal Bonus Game is activated. There are three offer increasing rewards:

  • 4 consecutive cascades – Standard Deal or No Deal.
  • 5 consecutive cascades – Super Deal or No Deal.
  • 6 consecutive cascades – Mega Deal or No Deal.

The action shifts to an arena with 22 boxes in the middle, and prizes of cash and free spins flanking the screen. Players take turns choosing boxes which remove prizes from the two columns while the banker calls on the phone with offers to buy your allocated box. Players can either take the offer and leave the game or hold out until the end and open their box – just like on the show.

Free Spins come with a number of mystery symbols and an unlimited multiplier which increases by 1 with each cascade. Free spins can also be re-triggered by +5 if 3 free spin scatters land, or +10 if 4 scatters land.

Finally, why not throw one more extra feature in for good measure? The Jackpot King Deluxe pot system feature can launch randomly on any spin. When triggered, players spin the reels to collect crowns – the more they get the further up the win ladder they move. Get 15 or more crowns to unlock the Wheel King Bonus to win either big bet multipliers or a progressive jackpot. After any spin, players choose a regal looking icon which lets them either spin again, collect the prize they are on, or spin the Wheel King.

Deal or No Deal Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Verdict

Deal or No Deal is no stranger to the slot world. There are several options out there both physical and online. Blueprint Gaming’s latest addition, with the inclusion of the Megaways system, puts it firmly in the top spot. How it gets there is due to several factors, one of them being emotional. If you have seen the show, you know how tough it can be for contestants to risk the bankers offer for the chance to win even more, or less. You know you are going to win something in that situation which makes it a nice spot to be in, but still, it can be intense all the same.

During the audition process, the show’s producers would conduct psychological tests to assess the character of each contestant. Those that showed a natural propensity for gambling were often the ones that had the nerve to hold out under the toughest choices. Hopefully, that is good news for the hardcore players out there because a lot is at stake. Deal or No Deal Megaways delivers the goods in the rewards department with 10,000 times your stake up for grabs, (capped at £250,000) which is plenty to play for. More than enough to overcome anyone’s aversion to Noel Edmond if he had fronted the game.

If you are looking for a hard-hitting, fast-paced, shot of adrenaline then it might be best to look elsewhere. The way the bonus rounds shift away from the base game might break up the flow too much. But followers of the TV show might very well enjoy this Megaways slot version, as will those looking for real bang for their buck, and a slot full of extras.
