Irish Frenzy (Blueprint Gaming): Review

Irish Frenzy is one of several games in the Frenzy series originally developed by Australian studio Reel Time Gaming. Just like Fishin' Frenzy Megaways, Irish Frenzy has been licensed out to Blueprint Gaming who in turn has added their touch to this classic title.

Irish Frenzy is a simple and uncomplicated game that is nowhere near as feature-heavy as new slots often tend to be these days. Going back to the basics, you get an industry standard setup of 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 fixed paylines. A medium to high variance mathematical design, it comes with a Free Spins feature where you can land up to 20 spins and where you'll collect pots of gold for additional wins. You can play Irish Frenzy on all devices from between 10 cents to 100 Euros per spin.

Just as the game itself, the visual presentation is also simple and stays true to the land-based version. With a dreamy countryside scenery in the backdrop, on the reels you'll see A, K, Q, J and 10 royal values, as well as a group of 5 higher-value symbols typical for the genre - clovers, mushrooms, pints of beer, pots of gold and harps. The latter is the most valuable and gives you 200 times your stake for 5 of a kind.

Other than landing a line hit of harps, there's nothing much really going on in the base game which is why we'll move on to the only feature included in the game.

Irish Frenzy (Blueprint Gaming): Features

Keep an eye out for the pot with the rainbow shooting out of it - this is the scatter symbol which will give you 10, 15 or 20 Free Spins if you land 3, 4 or 5 of them respectively. Upon entering the bonus you'll notice a new symbol - the leprechaun. This is the wild that has now come into play to help you land winning combinations.

The wild is now also the most rewarding symbol with 5 of them on a payline giving you 500 times your stake. Moreover, each wild that appears on the reels will collect the value displayed on the pots of gold symbols which can be 1 up to 50 times your stake.

If you don't feel like waiting for the Free Spins to drop "organically" during gameplay, you also have the option to buy your way in. Simply hit the feature buy button to the left of the reel set and you'll be guaranteed a bonus for a cost of 70 times your total stake.

Irish Frenzy (Blueprint Gaming): Verdict

As you've seen, Irish Frenzy is quite straight forward and all about going back to the basics. While it's far from the most potent of Blueprint slots in terms of payouts, it still packs some punch and can deliver payouts of well over 500 times your stake per spin in the bonus should you land a wild line.

If you're particularly into retro type slots or just feel like getting away from all the modern feature-heavy creations that require you to spare a week to read the paytable in order to get a grip of what's going on, Irish Frenzy might be something for you. Even if the leprechaun theme is a bit worn out and too much of a cliché by now and despite the old school gameplay, Irish Frenzy is undoubtedly a slot that can get its hooks in you and make you stick.
