Marlin Masters Atlantis: Slot Overview
When you jump on the Big Bass-style bandwagon and make one, you might as well make two. Or in this instance, three, as we set sail with developer Hacksaw Gaming for the third release in its Marlin Masters range. This one is titled Marlin Masters Atlantis, and it follows on from Marlin Masters and Marlin Masters The Big Haul. As well as fishing, it's mixed in a bit of myth, as well, as the famously submerged city of Atlantis has blipped up on the sonar. LootLines and money symbol collecting returns, while the famous island has brought with it a new Kraken character who contributes by sticking collectable symbols and respinning the rest.
Fans of popular slot themes should be thrilled by the way they get to enjoy fishing and ancient Greek myth in one convenient, attractive spot. On the art side, this means pleasing architecture, statues, and a view of Atlantis above the waterline rather than submerged. There are also plenty of fish, if you're lucky, and a fisherman - the same facial-haired dude who turned up in the previous two games, except this time he's holding a trident to get into the ancient Greek mood. The screen is colourful and brightly lit, as fishing slots tend to be, making the idea of skimming out on the water to hook wildlife, maybe snag some dough, as well, an enticing one.

The cast-off spot in Marlin Masters Atlantis is a 5x4 grid with 26 paylines. Regular line wins are often of lesser importance in some fishing slots, but in Marlin Masters, paylines can also be used to award fish symbol values via the LootLines feature. Medium volatile, Marlin Masters Atlantis' highest RTP is 96.27%, and its stake range has a minimum of $/€0.10 and a maximum of $/€100.
Five of Marlin Masters Atlantis' pay symbols are 9-A card royals, while the remaining four are fish symbols of different types. Hitting a 5 OAK winning combination of royals is worth 1x the bet, while 5 matching high pays awards 3x to 7.5x the stake. Wilds may land on any reel. They substitute all regular paying symbols, and a 5 OAK wild line pays 20x the stake.
Marlin Masters Atlantis: Slot Features

Marlin Masters Atlantis's haul of features contains Lootlines, money symbol collecting, a Kraken Collector, the Sunken Empire bonus, the Pose of Poseidon bonus, and feature buys.
Marlin Symbols, Jackpot Marlin Symbols and LootLines
Marlin symbols have values of 1x to 100x the bet, which is awarded when collected by a Fisherman symbol or when part of a winning LootLine. A LootLine is a winning payline of Marlin symbols, Jackpot Marlin symbols, or a combination of both. Jackpot Marlins are worth 25x, 100x, 500x, or 10,000x when revealing the Mini, Major, Mega, or Max Win, respectively, when collected or when part of a winning LootLine.
Fisherman Symbols
A landed Fisherman symbol collects all Marlin symbols on the reels, after any regular wins and LootLine wins have paid. Fisherman symbols may also land with a multiplier of up to x20, which applies to the total value of collected Marlin symbols. Up to three Fisherman symbols can land on the same spin.
Kraken Collector
Kraken Collector symbols only land on the leftmost reel. When one hits, it expands after any payline wins to cover the whole reel. Next, all Marlin and Jackpot Marlin symbols remain in place while all other positions respin. Only Marlin, Jackpot Marlin, or dead symbols may land on a respin. Marlin and Jackpot Marlin symbols are sticky, and respins continue until no new Marlin or Jackpot Marlin symbol lands. Fisherman symbols cannot land at the same time as a Kraken Collector. Nor can Marlin and jackpot Marlin symbols land on the same reel as a Kraken Collector.
Sunken Empire Bonus Game
Hitting 3 scatters triggers 10 Sunken Empire free spins, which keep the base game mechanics. In addition, a Trident Bar appears outside the reels. Each time a Fisherman hits, the Trident Bar increases by +1 step, whether it collects anything or not. After every fifth Fisherman symbol has hit, a new upgrade bonus level is achieved, and +8 free spins are awarded. Level 1, 2, and 3 upgrade levels also guarantee that Fisherman symbols land with a multiplier value of at least x2, x3, and x5, respectively.
Pose for Poseidon Bonus Game
15 free spins are awarded when landing 4 scatters in the base game. It keeps the mechanics of the Sunken Empire but has an increased chance of reaching the different bonus upgrade levels through the Trident Bar.
Feature Buys
The feature buy section has four options. They are BonusHunt FeatureSpins at 3x the bet, making each spin 5 times more likely to trigger a bonus, and Noisy Neptune FeatureSpins at 50x, guaranteeing 1 Kraken Collector and 1 Marlin symbol lands. Players may buy Sunken Empire for 100x or Pose for Poseidon for 200x the bet.

Marlin Masters Atlantis: Slot Verdict
The meat of the Marlin Masters range has stayed pretty consistent throughout all three releases, but Hacksaw Gaming has continued to make alterations to the support features, as well as tweak other elements. A lot of the mechanics on offer here have surfaced in the first two Marlin Masters games, and LootLines themselves are a reflection of what 4ThePlayer inserted into its 4 Fantastic Fish line. One main bit is the Kraken Collector, and while it doesn't do anything crazy innovative, it's a neat add-on. It didn't appear much, though, so maybe don't pick Marlin Masters Atlantis solely for experiencing a load of stick and respin action.
Fortunately, even without the Kraken rearing its squishy head, the rest of Marlin Masters Atlantis serves up hearty fish slot entertainment. There is a sense of déjà vu, though. Not just because previous installations delivered similar action, but because of the long shadow cast by Big Bass Bonanza throughout the entire angling genre, expressed here through the fisherman collection mechanic, triggering extra free spins and a collection multiplier. Naturally, it ain't new, yet it works as well as one could hope for, keeping in mind that max multiplier values were greater in the previous games. The flipside is that Marlin Masters Atlantis has jackpots, and like anchovies, they are sure to be a hit with some gamblers while being repellent to others.
All up, Marlin Masters Atlantis is a pretty mainstream, commercial release for Hacksaw Gaming. There's certainly nothing here that challenges the status quo or requires in-depth study to understand the intricacies of. Max win is capped at 10,000x, available in all game modes, and its collection of common slot tropes and popular mechanics makes it hard to see Marlin Masters Atlantis being anything but well-received by its target audience.
Whilst Marlin Masters Atlantis might not reel in anything remarkable, its safe, familiar design feels destined to entertain its target audience.
