NetEnt to release branded horse racing slot SCUDAMORE’S SUPER STAKES in 2019
Branded slots are nothing new when it comes to NetEnt. Good branded slots, however, is a rarity. While the upcoming Vikings slot shows a lot of promise – a game that could possibly turn out to be the company’s best creation in a long time – the rest of the lot have been quite disappointing. Commercially, branded slots can probably work wonders as it’s not unlikely that they have a strong appeal when it comes to mainstream players. Nonetheless, going by the casino community and Twitch casino section, NetEnt’s most recent branded games Jumanji and Planet of the Apes have done little to evoke more than disappointment.
In our opinion, we’d like to see NetEnt focus more on meeting the demand for solid, well-balanced, high variance slots, something we know they are capable of. Instead, most of the titles released this year have been shockingly bad. For example, Asgardian Stones, which due to the similarities in mechanics could be considered a follow up to Gonzo’s Quest, turned out to be a high variance, low potential disaster that is barely mentioned anymore, and Twin Spin Deluxe, which had the success of its predecessor going for it, totally missed the mark and made us question the sanity of a company that appeared out of touch with reality.
NetEnt, who is currently focusing on branching out to the US remote gaming market, is also seeking to further expand its portfolio of premium branded slots. Yesterday the company made the announcement that it has partnered with eight-time Champion Jockey Peter Scudamore to produce its first sports branded slot which will be released during the 2018/19 National Hunt season. To be honest, we have no clue who Peter Scudamore is, nor do we have a thing for horse racing, so all we can hope for is that we will get to see a good online slot which, by the sound of it, it could very well turn out to be.
According to NetEnt, Scudamore’s Super Stakes is set to feature high volatility mechanics and will utilise Scudamore’s image rights which means it will include real racing content and themed in-game features.
