Strike of Poseidon MultiChase: Slot Overview

'The ocean's treasures await you,' so says the buff guy fronting All For One Studios' underwater online slot Strike of Poseidon MultiChase. The guy in question is Poseidon, the ancient Greek God of the Sea, and a popular face in the online gambling scene. What's also popular is the ubiquitous scatter paying wins mechanic powering Strike of Poseidon MultiChase, running alongside features such as multiplier symbols and free spins, where a total multiplier comes on board. Sound familiar? There'll be quite a lot of that happening as we review a game that bears more than one similarity to a certain Gates game.

Seen one Poseidon slot, and you've kind of seen them all. They often take place beneath the water's surface, which makes sense, and in Strike of Poseidon MultiChase, down here you'll find an impressive domed building set amidst Greek architecture and aquatic life forms. Players enter the building when free spins are active, while Poseidon accompanies them at all times, offering a piece of commentary every so often, golden trident in hand. So far, so all rather commonplace, a feeling reinforced when we get to the features.

A gold columned 6x5 grid is where Strike of Poseidon drops its action, and it creates a winning combination when 8 matching symbols land anywhere on the reels. Rated medium for volatility, three RTP models are available, so look out for the 96.02% one if after the highest. Stakes range from $/€0.20 to $/€40, with an ante bet and buys on the side.

On the less valuable side of the pay table, we find four shells and a star fish, then anchors, more shells, rings, and crowns as the higher paying symbols. When landing 8 matching pay symbols, players win 0.2x to 3x their stake or 2x to 50x for a 12+ OAK combination. Rolling Reels is the name given to the cascade system, which removes winning symbols in combinations and replaces them by dropping symbols down to fill all of the reels. Rolling Reels repeat as long as new wins hit.

Strike of Poseidon MultiChase: Slot Features

What we've got here for features are the MultiChase Multiplier, free spins with an unlimited multiplier, a Boost Feature, and feature buys.

MultiChase Multiplier

Multiplier symbols may land with a value of x2 to x100, though the value can randomly be upgraded. Multiplier symbols remain on the reels until Rolling Reels finish their rolling. In the base game, multipliers are collected and applied to the spin's total win.

Free Spins With Unlimited Multiplier

Landing 3 scatters in the base game increases the free spins multiplier by +1 up to a maximum of x20. Hitting 4, 5, or 6 scatters awards +10 free spins and a payout of 1x, 20x, or 200x the stake, respectively. During free spins, collected multipliers are added to the free spins multiplier and applied to the total win for that spin. If no multiplier symbol lands, the free spins multiplier is not applied. When the round ends, the free spins multiplier resets to a value of x1 to x4. Additionally, landing 3 or 4 scatters awards +5 or +10 free spins, respectively. The free spins multiplier is unlimited but does not apply to retriggered scatter wins.

Boost Feature & Feature Buys

The Boost Feature is available in the base game. Activating it raises the bet by 20% to double the chance of triggering free spins. It is also possible to buy free spins with an x1 starting multiplier for 50x, or free spins with a randomly chosen starting multiplier for 75x the stake.

Strike of Poseidon MultiChase: Slot Verdict

Strike of Poseidon, Gates of Olympus, they're pretty close, aren't they, in more ways than one. First off, you've got the theme, and both star some of the heaviest of heavy weights from ancient Greek belief - this one, Poseidon, in Pragmatic Play's version, it's his brother Zeus. The God of the Sea is a powerful deity, no two ways about it, but Zeus was the chief god of the Pantheon, let's not forget, and by a very lengthy extension, Gates of Olympus remains the chief when it comes to these sorts of scatter paying, multiplying games. That's not to say others haven't used this combination of features to bring life to exciting scatter paying slots, and Strike of Poseidon does a few things its bro can not do.

The main one is being able to grow the free spins total multiplier before even stepping a single foot in the bonus round. Hit 3 scatters here and there, and instead of just teasing, the multiplier increases in size, up to a limit. Like just about everything else in Strike of Poseidon MultiChase, this effect is far from new, though, and in fact, the game as a whole very closely mirrors Genie's Arabian Riches, designed by compadre Neon Valley Studios. The max win has decreased, though, for whatever reason, All For One Studios has chopped that figure back to 5,000x the bet.

After the Olympians won the Titanomachy, defeating the Titans, Zeus got the sky, Hades the underworld, and Poseidon the waters, though all three could be said to have won the hearts of a sizable chunk of gamblers through their various online slots. That said, whilst it may do what it does well enough, the reheated leftovers effect feels too strong for Strike of Poseidon MultiChase to win over much.

Bigwinboard Summary

A competent enough Gates of Olympus wannabe, perhaps, but Strike of Poseidon brings very little that's new to the table.
