Supersized: Slot Overview

These days, the words 'super size' can be used to describe anything that is unusually large, but it is a term popularised by McDonald's in the 1990s, when it referred to a larger drink or French fries serving than the standard 'Large' option. It's this push and pull between what's unhealthy, but what's convenient (and tasty) that Nolimit City showcases in the grossout slot Supersized.

This isn't the first time Nolimit City has examined the relationship between food and overconsumption. That would be Gluttony, though the case could be made that Karen Maneater touched upon the subject even earlier. In Supersized, players dine at a filthy, unsanitary food spot which isn't a named brand, let's be clear, though the specific colours on some of the pay symbols may allude to a certain restaurant. Supersized's style is classic Nolimit City, humorous, a bit gross, kind of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Flight Mode, Nine to Five-ish, a deadly serious slot wrapped in a completely unserious skin.

Spinning on a food tray is Supersized's gaming grid. By default, it is 5x5 in size with 259 connected win ways, but it is expandable up to 10 reels in width. Nolimit City has designed three RTP variations, where 96.07% is the highest, and the math model is highly volatile. Extreme, actually, according to the game info. With the usual supersized menu of buys and boosters, players can also pick from $/€0.20 to $/€200 as the base bet.

The pay symbols are 10-A made out of fries, slippers, waist bags, hats, shirts, and an employee of the fast food outlet. Features

• Clone - The Clone symbol makes a copy of the reel it lands on, which gets placed to the right of the original reel. The maximum number of reels is 10. Clone symbols have no other value.
• Press - The Press symbol can land on any reel except the leftmost. It removes the symbols below it on its reel and transforms into a wild when it reaches the bottom row. After that, new symbols drop in. It does not trigger if it lands on the bottom row.

Free Spins

Supersized: Slot Verdict

There is something satisfying about sinking your teeth into a juicy burger, pizza or whatever (either meat or plant-based) as the salt and fat ignite taste buds before running down the throat. Sure, guilt might come later, but at the time, there is something almost primal about the taste explosion. Some say there is an actual biological mismatch between our modern knowledge of unhealthy food and our 'Stone Age' brain, which is programmed to crave this stuff. The problem is that it isn't 10,000 BC, and salty, fatty food is available on every street corner. After playing Supersized for a bit, the desire to devour junk food may decrease a notch or two. This isn't just a game which just puts burgers on the screen, but one that revels in the mucky side of the fast food industry, giggling like a teenager who spat in that one Karen's coleslaw.

On the technical side, Supersized is fairly dense but not overwhelmingly so. The Clone symbol is interesting and is one of the game's key elements. It's needed for adding reels in order to hit the larger, more valuable winning combinations, and ties directly into Germinator Spins, which could be punishing when the grid expansion wasn't happening. The Germinator is a good one, too, and when you factor its symbol removal effect with up to 10 reels, it makes sense that this is connected ways rather than a regular ways to win game. This combination of features might suit a scatter pays slot well, too. Let's see if Nolimit City can work that in at some stage in the future.

About the only thing which isn't super-sized around here is winning potential. It's no cold, sad, soggy French fry, though, at 12,345x the stake, but kind of un-super compared to Nolimit City's monster winning potential releases. All in all, Supersized was an enjoyable game to review, despite its grubbier elements. If you like the way Nolimit City is able to hold up a mirror and remind us what an odd species humanity can be, then Supersized is a must-see.
