Thor 10K Ways: Slot Overview
Odin's son Thor grabs a hammer and cape to star in another of developer ReelPlay's 10K Ways range of slots, a game bearing the title of Thor 10K Ways. Thor seems to be a pretty popular character at the ReelPlay office, as he's shown up before in Thor Infinity Reels. If you've played that one, then a lot about Thor 10K Ways will feel familiar as the two slots share a lot of the same visuals. On the gaming side of things, Thor 10K Ways will probably feel familiar as well if you've cranked up Shamrock Money Pot 10K Ways or the slots which have branched off of it.
So then, it's off to a pretty dismal place to play Thor 10K Ways in. With the swords rammed into the ground and cast away helms, it looks like a battle of some description was waged here at some time in the not-too-distant past. Ash or snow rains down from above, a banner waves forlornly in the breeze, and all we can say is; hopefully, the goodies won this fight. No doubt if Thor was here waving Mjolnir around, they did.

Don't take that to mean players are guaranteed to turn a profit because the big man's around. Thor 10K Ways is a highly volatile slot, after all, possessing an RTP value of 96.08%. The name is no misnomer either, as players do indeed get 10,000 ways to win, produced by a game grid possessing 6 reels holding 4 symbols each and a 4 symbol horizontally spinning reel plonked on the top. This one doesn't come with a bonus buy for a change, so players simply select a stake of 20 p/c to $/€20 per spin and hammer away on the go button.
When winning symbols land, they explode off the reels by the cascade mechanic. Symbols drop down or slide sideways, filling the gaps, and if another win lines up, the cascading feature triggers again, ending when no new win appears. Hammer symbols are not removed and replaced by the cascade feature. Collecting a payout occurs when at least 3 symbols land on 3 adjacent reels from the first reel onwards. Hitting a 6 OAK winning way pays 0.5 to 1.2 times the bet when made up of the 9-A muscular card royals, or 2 to 50 times the bet if 6 horns, shields, helmets, or axes land. The man himself, Thor, is displayed on the wild symbol, present on the top reel only. Thor wilds substitute for all symbols except the Hammer.
Thor 10K Ways: Slot Features

The features in Thor 10K Ways are pretty straightforward and consist of the Bonus Respins round plus the Near Miss Bonus.
Bonus Respins
Landing 6 or more Hammer symbols triggers the Bonus Respins feature. Once in, 3 respins are awarded, and all Hammer symbols are held. When any new Hammer symbols land, they are held while also resetting the respins back to 3. When no more respins remain or all positions are filled with Hammer symbols, the round ends. Then, the value of all Hammers on the reels is awarded. Regular prizes are worth 1x to 100x the bet per symbol, whereas the Mini, Minor, Major, Grand, or 10K bonus prize is worth 10x, 50x, 250x, 2,000x, or 10,000x the bet, respectively. Mini and Minor bonus prizes may be won more than once during this feature. The 10K, Grand, or Major bonus prizes may be awarded just once. During the Bonus Respins feature, Hammer symbols may appear on all reels, including the top one.
Near Miss Bonus
If exactly 5 Hammer symbols land in view after the cascade explosions have finished, the Near Miss Bonus triggers. Each of the Hammer symbols awards a prize or bonus prize. Mini and Minor bonus prizes may be won more than once during this feature. The 10K, Grand, or Major bonus prizes may be awarded just once. During the base game or the Near Miss Bonus, Hammer symbols land only on the vertically spinning main reels.

Thor 10K Ways: Slot Verdict
Thor 10K Ways is so close to its forebear Thor Infinity Reels, that the two games share much of the same positives and negatives. On the positive side, Thor 10K Ways has a great look, builds a fun atmosphere, and provides a straight-up fun place to mentally inhabit for a bit. The stats are solid, and there is nothing here which is really deal-breakingly off-putting. Especially for players partial to Norse Mythology, of which there must be a good number since this category of slots seems to be going as strong as ever.
And yet, while Thor 10K Ways is full of okay to good things, there is not much here that's extraordinary. For that matter, there's not much here which isn't available in several earlier ReelPlay releases like Shamrock Money Pot 10K Ways, Festival 10K Ways, or Fu 10K Ways. One exception is the Near Miss Bonus and players collecting a win after landing 5 Hammer symbols will no doubt be rejoicing over its inclusion. More so since, technically, it is possible to win the coveted 10K bonus prize from it. Even the Grand would be pretty darn tootin' as well. Outside this tweak, it's business as usual. Thor 10K Ways' central feature is an absolutely run-of-the-mill hold & win round, which involves landing Hammers, and er, that's about it. No special symbols, no special rules; just hit prize symbols or don't.
As alluded to, there's nothing wrong with Thor 10K Ways' set-up, just nothing remarkable about it either. It looks good and plays alright, but in the end, it just felt like something was missing. It's not like ReelPlay can't come up with innovative bonus features - Money Mariachi Infinity Reels is a fine example of the studio's creativity. With that in mind, Thor 10K Ways feels like an even bigger missed opportunity, being a good but by no means great slot.
Recycled visuals and gaming components make Thor 10K Ways less exciting than it might have been.
