Vampire Riches DoubleMax: Slot Overview
Vampire Riches DoubleMax is an online slot from software provider Yggdrasil Gaming that sinks its fangs in the studio's potent doubling-up multiplier feature. It's a reskin of Neon Villains, which not only shares the same features and mechanics but also stars a group of nefarious characters of its own. Where Neon Villains had more typical smash-and-grab criminals, Vampire Riches DoubleMax's baddies are of the blood-sucking variety. In Vampire Riches DoubleMax, vampire clans have gathered together in New York City to, well, it's not clear exactly what they're up to, but it's bound to be something naughty and soaked in blood.
Neon Villains was a fairly stylish game if you like neon, but Vampire Riches DoubleMax makes it look like a cheap lava lamp. The base game is held outside a building housing the vampire meeting, which, since this is New York City, must be worth an absolute fortune. Instead of being held in a 100 million dollar+ penthouse overlooking the city and its blood pulsating, sun enduring inhabitants, the meeting takes place in a giant gothic pad like a museum or art gallery oozing doom and gloom. The participants at the meeting, represented by character symbols, are of the 'sexy' uber-hip vampire variety, and Vampire Riches DoubleMax taps into the same sort of spirit as, say, The Vampire Diaries, Twilight, or The Originals, or something like that.
As well as having the same features as Neon Villains, Vampire Riches DoubleMax produces more or less the same stats, as well. It's highly volatile and is available in four RTP configurations, with a default value of 96%. Since it is not said otherwise, the return value appears to be the same no matter how the game is played – betting 10 p/c to $/€40 per spin, making use of the Golden Bet, or buying free spins. When using the Golden Bet, the stake is increased by 20% whilst doubling the chance of triggering free spins.
The active gaming area is a 5-reel, 3-row space providing 243 ways to win. With a hit rate of 20.8%, wins are formed when identical pay symbols land on consecutive reels from the first reel onwards. Card ranks J through A are the low-value group, paying 0.5 times the bet for a 5 OAK win, while the high pays are 4 villainous vampire characters, awarding 1 to 2.5 times the bet for a 5 symbol win. A blood-filled jewelled golden chalice is Vampire Riches DoubleMax's wild symbol, able to substitute for any regular pay symbol.
Vampire Riches DoubleMax: Slot Features
Vampire Riches DoubleMax has not been imbued with features unseen elsewhere, so we get extras such as Dropdown Wins, the DoubleMax multiplier, free spins, and bonus buys.
Dropdown Wins
After every win, the winning symbols involved are removed, and a wild symbol is placed in one of the empty positions. The remaining empty positions are filled with symbols dropping down, giving players another chance to win. Dropdown Wins sequences end when no new win appears. In free spins, wilds are only added to the first three reels.
DoubleMax
Next to the reels is a multiplier trail starting at x1. Following wins, the multiplier doubles in value. In the base game, the DoubleMax multiplier resets at the start of each spin.
Free Spins
Scatter symbols appear on the reels only in the base game. Landing 3, 4, or 5 scatter awards 7, 9, or 11 free spins, respectively. During free spins, the main benefit is that the DoubleMax multiplier does not reset until the round ends. Since scatters only appear in the base game, free spins cannot be retriggered.
Buy Free Spins
When buying Vampire Riches DoubleMax's free spins, there are three choices. For 100x the bet you can get 7 free spins, 200x the bet buys 9 free spins, while 500x the bet gets you 11 free spins.
Vampire Riches DoubleMax: Slot Verdict
Much of Vampire Riches DoubleMax's gameplay was quite predictable, all of it, really, since it's a straight crossover from Neon Villains. Indeed, most of these DoubleMax games follow a pretty similar formula, built around the cascading/increasing multiplier combo. Not a bad combo at all either, and one that can blow up, no matter what slot is playing host. Here, it is no different, and while it might be hard to get the thing going sometimes, once these sorts of games decide to go on a rip, they can produce some exhilarating multiplier action.
That's all technically here in Vampire Riches DoubleMax, and while it is a reskin, Yggdrasil Gaming has made excellent use of the vampiric subject matter to dress everything in. The game looks great, it's very moody, very polished, and ultra-fashionable, just how you might imagine a meeting of wealthy, powerful vampires in New York City would be. It was a more gripping experience than Neon Villains, which felt a bit cartoonish now by comparison. On the gaming side of things, there's not much to say. The combination of extras is neatly packaged, is capable of working well together, and can spurt wins as high as 25,000x the bet. Job done, in a pointier-toothed manner than usual.
Since gaming-wise, Vampire Riches DoubleMax has nothing new to offer, a lot may hinge on the game's vampire theme. It's been pulled off well, so if creatures of the night appeal, then the game's rich nosferatu atmosphere could be of great interest. The opposite may apply, too, if the theme doesn't manage to sink its fangs in. In both cases, as a DoubleMax slot, Vampire Riches DoubleMax doesn't put a step out of place, meaning it's as capable of doing wonderous things with multipliers as any of its siblings.
Good
Being low on feature innovation doesn’t hamper Vampire Riches DoubleMax’s stylish vampiric use of the DoubleMax gaming mechanic.
