Wild Elements (Red Tiger): Overview
When we first laid eyes on Wild Elements, we were quite intrigued by its unusual presentation and strange format. Slightly confused by its somewhat unorganized appearance, and after having spent a few minutes trying to make some sense of the paylines and curious symbols, we eventually came to realize that things were actually quite straightforward after all. Truth be told, the unorthodox design is not wholly alien to us. In Flower Fortune Megaways, released only a few weeks ago, Fantasma Games makes use of a similar format.
In this 7-reel, 30-payline slot produced by Red Tiger partnering studio Royal 7, you get to enter a mysterious realm ruled by four mythic beings and the personifications of the four elements - earth, water, air, and fire. You better pray for these gorgeous weather goddesses to be on your side, for they have the power to summon fully stacked mega-sized wilds in the main game. Things get even wilder in the Mystic Spins free spins feature where the mega wilds can turn into Possessive wilds, transforming premiums into wild symbols. If lucky, you might also catch a glimpse of the Fortune Goddess, which will award extra free spins or win multipliers. Using your desktop or mobile device as a portal to this strange world, you can play it from as little as 10 cents per spin up to 20€.
Oddly enough, Wild Elements suffers from the same phenomenon as Fantasma's slot. Although not quite as pronounced here as in Fantasma's case, the reel set does look rather small relative to the large background area. In any case, little effort seems to have been invested into the design of the backdrop which just looks like blurry clouds at sunset (although things improve greatly in the bonus). Overall, Wild Elements is a somewhat plain-looking slot due to the generic feel of the symbols which all appear super seized (1x3). Representing the lower value symbols are the four regular elements marked with card suit symbol carvings. The premium elements come in the form of air, water, earth and fire symbols, the latter being the most lucrative giving you 10 times your stake for 7 on a full payline. The four elements represent the wild symbol, all appearing as 2x6 mega symbols that cover two full reels.
Wild Elements (Red Tiger): Features
With no features to rely on in the main game and with a max payout of only 300x, it all comes down to the Mystic Spins Free Spins feature. To activate it, you need to see three or more mystic spins scatter symbols hit the reels simultaneously - this will reward a random number of free spins in typical Red Tiger fashion. Before commencing the free spins, you get to choose your preferred element - Air Spirit, Water Nymph, Earth Guardian or the Fire Empress. Once underway, you'll notice that all premiums have been transformed into the one corresponding to your selected element. Your choice will also affect the volatility as the fire symbol, for example, is more valuable than the air symbol but in turn, also appears less frequently.
There's more to it than that, however. If the 2x6 wild lands fully visible on the reels, it will become a Possessive Wild and turn all the premium symbols in view into wilds. Moreover, a Sphere of Fortune symbol can also appear on any spin which summons the Fortune Goddess who will either grant up to 5 extra spins or give your win multiplier a boost of up to 3x. The Fortune Goddess may appear more than once during the feature, which means you can benefit from plenty of extra free spins or a win multiplier that can grow with no limit.
Wild Elements (Red Tiger): Verdict
Wild Elements is a highly volatile slot that is all about the free spins. The key is to trigger the Fortune Goddess in hope that she'll boost your win multiplier to make it possible for you to land some truly substantial wins as the slot is capable of delivering payouts of over 5000 times your stake. Overall, Wild Elements is a decent looking slot and we found it to be quite captivating. However, we found the main game to be a bit tedious, relentless and extremely unforgiving as there's nothing really to keep you afloat.
This is not very encouraging considering the fact that the free spins proved quite hard to trigger (not too usual for a Red Tiger game). During our first test session, it took us over 900 spins to trigger the bonus (likely more, but we lost track along the way). In other words, proceed with caution. Wild Elements is not Red Tiger's best effort, but it's not the worst either. If you're into high volatility and high potential, it's undoubtedly worth a try.
