Wild Survivor: Slot Overview

When you were a kid, did surviving in the wild seem like a breeze? Build a house out of branches and leaves, rub a couple of sticks together for fire, then cook food on the grill you've just constructed. Easy. Then you grow up and realise that surviving in the wild is not only exceedingly difficult for the untrained but also exceedingly uncomfortable. Maybe it's better to stick to trips between the couch and the fridge. However, primal urges run deep, and some love getting out there in the great outdoors to test their mettle. If the thought of doing so is an alluring one, but you'd rather indulge it in a comfortable way, why not join us as we get amongst nature in Play'n GO's online slot Wild Survivor.

It doesn't get much wilder than the outdoor location Play'n GO has put on for Wild Survivor. If you can tear your eyes away from the mesmerising running water, other details to scope are majestic mountains, lonely woods, and, when the reels start to spin, plenty of wild animals. Similarly themed, in some ways, Wild Survivor gave off strong Huntress Wild Vengeance vibes visually.

The gameplay and stats are totally different, however, as Wild Survivor is a medium volatile slot, rated 6 out of 10 in this aspect, which takes bets of 10 c to $/€50. It's available in numerous RTP configurations; the highest default value weighs in at 96.2% - Play'n GO's go-to number. Plonked between logs of wood, Wild Survivor's game grid is built from 5 reels, each reel holding 3 rows, while utilising a 10 paylines win system. Winning combinations may be 3 to 5-of-a-kind in length and must start from the leftmost reel on the matrix.

Ten to Ace card ranks represent Wild Survivor's low pay symbols before 5 animals show up as the 5 high pays - fish, ducks, deer, wolves, and bears. Hitting 5 OAK low pay winning lines awards 3 to 5 times the stake, increasing to 10-40 times the bet for landing 5 matching high pays in a winning line.

Wild Survivor: Slot Features

Wild Survivor slot - pre bonus game

Wild Survivor has hints of Big Bass Bonanza to it, as its features include collectable cash prizes and free spins (with boosters) where wilds are collected in order to win extra free spins with better multiplier values.

Wild Prizes

Wild Prizes are attached to animal symbols and are randomised on each spin. These wild prizes may be collected during wild respins or free spins. In wild respins, wild prizes can be 1x, 2x, or 5x the bet. In free spins, they may be 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x, 100x, or 250x the bet. Landed wild symbols collect wild prizes during wild respins and free spins. Wild respins randomly trigger in the base game, and wilds also substitute for all other symbols except scatters.

Free Spins

Hitting 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols in the base game awards 10, 15, or 20 free spins, respectively. Scatter symbols cannot land during free spins. At the beginning of the free spins round, 1 of 4 boosters is randomly selected:

  • Calls & Lures - increases the frequency of landing animal symbols.
  • Mug Booster - increases the frequency of landing wild symbols.
  • Night Vision - increases the multiplier for wild prizes on animal symbols by x1.
  • Knife - awards an extra 3 free spins.

Landed wild symbols are added to the Wild Checkpoints panel during the round. Each 4th wild collected awards an extra +5 free spins and increases the multiplier for the wild prizes on animal symbols by x1. There are 12 checkpoints. The wild prize multiplier is x2 when reaching the 4th Wild Checkpoint, x3 by reaching the 8th Wild Checkpoint, or x4 by reaching the 12th Wild Checkpoint. If the Knife booster was awarded, the multiplier is x2 by default, and +1 is added to Wild Checkpoint values.

Wild Survivor: Slot Verdict

We name-dropped Big Bass Bonanza in the Features section, but through a combination of alternative animals and adjustments to the gameplay, Wild Survivor does enough to stand on its own two paws as its own beast. Well, it's not exactly a beast of a game; a 3,000x the bet win cap sees to that. But this is a bigger figure than the one found in the original BBB game, so presumably, players happy with what Pragmatic Play's megahit could potentially award will be cool with the limits of what Wild Survivor can drum up, too.

Some say it's the journey, not the destination, anyway, and if that's the case, then Wild Survivor's journey isn't a terrible one for players who want a taste of the great outdoors while gambling. Winning cash values off animals other than fish makes for a happy change, and you can do this as well in the base game via wild respins without necessarily having to wait for free spins to trigger. Of course, free spins get a boost from the wild symbol collection/Wild Checkpoints and larger possible Wild Prizes. Should enough collected wilds pile up, then the resulting multipliers could provide a break. Once again, the 3,000x top win isn't a major breakout figure, but not shamefully low for a game of this kind or anything like that.

And so there are reasons to brave the wild if this style of gaming tickles your fancy. Wild Survivor might not be the Bear Grylls of slot wilderness surviving, but it has something to offer players in the mood for an outdoor game that gives them the chance to track animals other than fish for a change.

Mediocre

Wild Survivor, while carving a niche with its animal tracking gameplay and outdoor allure, ultimately feels like a gentle stream rather than a roaring river, offering enough to keep players engaged but failing to deliver a truly wild adventure.
