Deal or No Deal Golden Case Megaways: Slot Overview

Isn't it interesting how participants in games of chance sometimes come up with systems in an attempt to overcome their random nature or make use of it in order to win? Hopefully. Picking birth dates in lotteries is a classic one, and another seemingly random game where some contestants have used strategies is the Endemol hit TV show Deal or No Deal. Jon Ronson wrote a fascinating article in the Guardian about this very phenomenon. In it, host Noel Edmonds was quoted as saying, 'The way you're playing the game is actually more powerful than luck itself!' as contestant Fin used a piece of paper with 'distilled wisdom from Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist' on it to aid his box selections. For the record, Fin collected $10,000 at the end of the game.

Online slot versions of Deal or No Deal offer a different arena for participants willing to employ these sorts of methods. Moreover, players eager to test theories out are spoiled for choice when it comes to DOND slots, as there are a lot, like, a lot, to choose from. Here's another one from developer White Hat Studios in conjunction with Blueprint Gaming known as Deal or No Deal Golden Case Megaways. Quite a mouthful, and really, how much more can be done with the format that hasn't been done before?

Looks-wise, Deal or No Deal Golden Case Megaways is a classic DOND slot. It's bright, glitzy, and possesses an intense rhythmical tune to add a bit of tension to the proceeds. Utilising an orthodox Megaways setup, the game is played on a game grid with 6 main reels and a 4-cell upper horizontally spinning reel. The setup is about the same as it was in a previous Blueprint Gaming release titled Deal or No Deal Megaways. So, players get up to 117,649 ways to win, though this one has a Golden Box, and its colour scheme has a more golden hue to it. On the numbers side of things, Deal or No Deal Golden Case Megaways is a highly volatile slot with an RTP of 95.99%, accepting bets of 10 p/c to $/€10 per spin and playable on any device.

Regular wins occur when identical symbols land on any row from the left side of the grid over consecutive reels. Almost all normal pay symbols require at least three of a kind to do so except the top golden case symbol, which pays out for 2+ of a kind. The lows consist of 9-A royals, worth 0.8 to 1x the bet for a six-symbol win, while the highs are a silhouetted lady, a gold coin, a letter, and the aforementioned golden case. Six-of-a-kind premium wins pay 2 to 50 times the stake. Appearing only on the top reel is the game's wild symbol, able to help create wins by substituting for any regular pay symbol. Mystery symbols also hit from the Banker's Mystery Spin in the base game or during free spins. When they do, they all transform to reveal the same pay symbol.

Creating wins is a critical step in reaching Deal or No Deal Golden Case Megaways' more thrilling parts. When a win hits, the cascade system removes the participating symbols from the reels and replaces them. If a new win is formed after symbols fill the gaps, then the cascade process continues until no new wins appear.

Bonus Trail

Should enough consecutive cascades occur, then players gain access to one of the bonus rounds. More specifically, hitting 4, 5, 6, or 7 consecutive cascades awards the Deal or No Deal, Super Deal or No Deal, Mega Deal or No Deal, or the Golden Case Bonus, respectively.

  • Deal or No Deal - During this part of the game, players pick to open cases on screen until they end up with a cash prize or free spins. The Super or Mega versions offer increasing chances to win free spins over cash prizes.
  • Golden Case Bonus - Make it here to pick one case out of three to win free spins. Up to 30 free spins are possible to be won.
  • Free Spins - Free spins have an unlimited win multiplier that increases by 1 after every cascade. The round can be extended by landing 3 or 4 scatter symbols on the top reel to win +5 or +10 extra free spins, respectively. The paytable also mentions mystery symbols are added to the reels at the start of free spins.

Deal or No Deal Golden Case Megaways: Slot Verdict

If you're familiar with the DOND range, then there will probably be little to nothing here you haven't seen before. White Hat Studios has adhered faithfully to the DOND script and produced a game that's rather similar to previous Blueprint Gaming releases like Deal or No Deal Megaways or Deal or No Deal Golden Box, though the latter appears to have been cancelled. Perhaps this is why an associate studio of Blueprint Gaming ended up having a crack in the form of Deal or No Deal Golden Case Megaways.

Not a bad crack either if DOND is of personal interest. The slot successfully captures some of the game show's spirit; it's got pace, the music is spot on, and hitting enough consecutive cascades gives players a chance to take on the banker in the box selection sequence. These can be alright. Pick 'n click your way to a cash prize or free spins – or straight to free spins if you were lucky enough to trigger The Golden Case bonus. Once in, the bonus round is a fairly standard batch of free spins with a rising win multiplier. Nothing new, but good for winning potential capped at $/250,000 or 50,000x the bet, whichever comes first.

Unless you're absolutely head over heels with all things DOND, it might be a struggle to really get the pulse racing over Deal or No Deal Golden Case Megaways. It doesn't do much that hasn't been seen or scheduled to be seen before and deviates very little, if at all, from the standard box picking, free spins stuff of previous incarnations. Still, Deal or No Deal Golden Case Megaways is a fully functioning DOND game, so it could be alright if beating the banker is of personal interest.
