Genie Jackpots Wishmaker: Overview
Once again, developer Blueprint Gaming rubs their magic lamp to call forth the smiling djinn in Genie Jackpots Wishmaker. After the original, as well as a Megaways remake, plus a pub fruits version, the Genie is back in his fourth adventure to date. And what a spectacle it is. A close cousin to The Goonies slot, and following in the tradition of other Blueprint slots absolutely rammed with features, players get no less than 7 random reel modifiers and 6 bonus games to crack.
Evolution dictates ever-better graphics which is the case with Genie Jackpots Wishmaker. It’s undoubtedly the most attractive of the four, boasting slick graphics, abundant animations, and an Arabic flavoured soundtrack that is easy to groove to. Playable from 10 p/c to £/€10 per spin, the action takes place on a semi-transparent 5-reel, 20-payline grid, set in a veritable cave of treasures. Mathematically, the Genie conjures up a respectable RTP rating of 96.06% while volatility sits in the medium spectrum.
For those who have played some of the earlier versions, the symbols will be quite familiar. This means J-A royals for the low pays, followed by books, jewel bags, swords, and turbans. A line of five of these premiums is worth 10x to 15x the stake. However, the most valuable symbol in the game is the logo which can land stacked and pay out on two of a kind or more. Land five of these logos on a payline for a win of 25 times the sake. The wild has the same pay schedule as the logo, while also substituting for any symbols except the bonus to form a combination.
Genie Jackpots Wishmaker: Features
While there isn’t anything particularly complicated about the features, there is a whole lot to cover. First up, let’s deal with the 7 modifiers which occur at random on any spin. When activated, three lamps hover over the reels – players choose one to reveal one of the following features:
- Infectious Monkey Wilds – monkey wilds spread by turning other symbols wild.
- Colossal Genie – the first three reels connect to form colossal 3×3 sized symbols.
- Genie Streak – winning symbols are locked and trigger a respin. New matching symbols are also locked and trigger more respins, until no more land, or the grid is full.
- Genie Win Spin – the Genie clicks his fingers to guarantee a win on the next spin.
- Genie Wilds – the Genie swoops onto the reels adding a random number of wilds.
- Mystery Wishes – the Genie adds a bunch of mystery symbols to the reels which all transform into the same matching symbol.
- Bonus Boost – bonus symbols are added to the reels increasing the chance of triggering the bonus game.
As you might expect if you’ve played other feature-rich Blueprint slots, there is a hierarchy of bonus games. It all begins by landing 3 or more scatter symbols which awards a spin on the Genie’s Wishmaker Bonus Wheel to win one of them. Awarded features may then be collected or gambled for the next one up on the list. Lose the gamble and you are awarded a consolation instant cash prize.
In terms of the bonuses, the first one on the list is Sultan’s Jewels. Here, players pick from 12 chests to reveal cash prizes or keys. The game continues until players reveal the Collect symbol. Reveal three keys during the round to receive a bonus upgrade.
In Magic Carpet, players pick lamps to reveal a number of moves or the ‘Collect’ message. Moves send a monkey up a stairway of flying carpets awarding a bet multiplier of up to 40x. Hitting Collect ends the feature, yet if you make it to the end of the stairway you also gain entrance to the Genie’s Big Money Bonus
Lucky Wishes starts with 3 respins on a grid that only displays instant cash prize symbols. Whenever a new cash symbol lands, free spins are reset to 3. The feature ends when respins run to zero, or the grid is full, triggering the Genie’s Wishmaker Bonus. This bonus is either a cash boost, an x5 multiplier, or a retrigger.
The Golden Touch feature kicks off with 5 free spins where the Genie can turn up to 5 full reels wild on each one. If the Genie flies into a reel more than once on the same spin, it becomes a wild multiplier. It is possible to score multiplier wins of up x243 in this feature.
Genie’s Wild Storm awards 10 free spins. During this feature, any genie wild in view leaves a frame around their specific position. On the final spin, all of these frames are filled with wilds or wild multipliers up to x5. In this feature multiplier wins of up to 3,125x are possible.
The Big Money Bonus involves a revolving wheel of bet multipliers. Players choose scrolls that reveal ‘Respin’ to keep the game alive, or ‘Collect’ which ends the feature. Wins of up to 1,000x the bet are possible here.
Genie Jackpots Wishmaker: Verdict
Genie Jackpots Wishmaker is a real Blueprint Gaming special, absolutely filled to the brim with extras. Veteran players, however, will discover that it’s pretty much a reskin of The Goonies, so if you’ve cracked everything that game has to offer, and are up for a new challenge, it might suit. Several aspects are similar, such as the Wishmaker Bonus Wheel and the Big Money round. The two aren’t exact clones as such, but it’s obvious they share the same mathematical model, though that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Genie Jackpots Wishmaker is a mixed bag, and along with the positives, there are aspects which may frustrate. For one, the lower tier bonus games have exciting moments, but they aren’t exactly high payers. Ending one early and receiving a pittance is bad enough, but even when you go all the way they often don’t add up to much.
Nor do the Mystery Prizes if you lose a gamble for that matter. Players are unlikely to strike bigger wins unless they trigger Genie’s Wild Storm (and even that would require a ridiculous amount of wild multipliers) or the Big Money round. That’s when payouts move from cute to more respectable as the game’s overall potential tops out at 10,000 times the stake.
Genie Jackpots Wishmaker doesn’t offer the same high powered, high-intensity gaming of the Megaways version. But if you like those Blueprint slots where the developer has crammed in everything but the kitchen sink, you’ll be all over Genie Jackpots Wishmaker. It’s got a ton of features, packaged in slinky graphics and animation. The jovial Genie looks like he has put on a bit of weight since last time too, so there is more of him to love. He might not always make dreams come true, but he often brings a bit of magic to the reels.
