Moon Princess Power of Love: Slot Overview

Moon Princess is one of those iconic slots from developer Play'n GO that has really done the rounds. It's reformed for a '100' version, a Christmas edition, and a Trinity one, not to mention providing the basis for a number of clones. For symbols, Moon Princess Power of Love has four distinctive objects as its low pays, then Hail, Blaze, and Love. Wilds substitute all symbols and pay 10x the bet for a line of 5 of them. If no other regular pay symbols are in view, wilds are removed from the grid.

As in other Moon Princess slots, wins occur when 3 matching symbols (or any high-pay combinations) land in a horizontal or vertical line, starting from any position on the grid. Winning symbols are removed from the reels, allowing the remaining symbols to drop down into the gaps – new symbols do not enter from the top of the grid, though. A wild symbol is created in the middle of a destroyed 3 OAK winning combination (wilds only appear on the grid this way). After each tumble, the win multiplier increases by +1, up to x100. Also, clearing the grid at any time except during the Love Triangle awards 50x the bet, and this prize is affected by the win multiplier.

Character Power

On any non-winning spin, a Character Power feature may randomly trigger. Character Powers do not guarantee a win. Depending on which character is displayed next to the grid, it will be:

• Love – changes one set of symbols in view into another symbol type.
• Blaze – adds 2 to 4 of the same symbol to the grid. The symbol is guaranteed to be present on the grid already.
• Hail – synchronises 2 reels by copying a selected reel.

Love Triangle

Next to the grid is a power meter. Landing winning combinations of 3, 4, or 5 character symbols fills 1, 2, or 3 sections of the meter, respectively. When 3 sections are filled, players win 1 free spin known as the Love Triangle. For the Love Triangle, the win multiplier is reset, and each character grants their modifier on non-winning symbol drops until all three powers have been spent. If the grid is cleared during the Love Triangle feature, free spins are awarded.

Free Spins

When activated, players choose Blaze, or Hail, to come with 4 free spins and the multiplier from the Love Triangle is carried over. On every non-winning spin, the chosen character performs their feature ability, then Love apparently performs her modifier, too. Whenever the Power Meter is filled, +3 extra free spins are awarded up to 100, and during the free spins round, the multiplier does not reset till the round ends. The multiplier's maximum value remains x100.

Moon Princess Power of Love: Slot Verdict

It was kinda surprising, kinda not surprising at all, to see Play'n GO add another Moon Princess game to an already substantial collection of related slots. The core mechanics, the starting anywhere winning combinations, tumbles, premium symbol collection, wild spawning, three modifiers, etc., are still compelling. It's the sort of combination where a single spin can turn into an absolute tumble fest, chaining repeat wins together till the cows come home. Ultimately clearing the grid is ace during the Love Triangle feature since it triggers free spins, but it's a thrill in free spins or in the base game, too, as the 50x reward gets boosted by the current multiplier. This set of features has worked like a charm in the past, it does again in Moon Princess Power of Love, and it will probably work just as well in future releases since why would Play'n GO retire the cash cow now?

The new two lads one lady Love Triangle idea is, okay, a little cheesy, but it's also kind of amusing, too, if you just go along with it. The tangle of relationships isn't just for lols either because Play'n GO has used it directly in free spins. The free spins round is an area differentiating Moon Princess Power of Love from others of its kind. Just to recap, players get two options when free spins trigger rather than the usual three, but it seems players get either Blaze or Hail plus Love in both options.
