The title's a giveaway, but Volatile Egypt Dream Drop is an Ancient Egyptian-themed slot and the first sort of 'traditional' example of one in the DD range. Given the popularity of the subject matter, it was pretty much a matter of time before players got one. (Though it could be argued that Temple Tumble 2 Dream Drop squeezes into the category, let's leave that one aside for now and debate it later). When laying the scene, Fantasma Games has made nice use of the theme to create an attractive location for the game's setting. Volatile Egypt Dream Drop takes place in what one would assume to be a temple of some sort, lined with seated Anubis-style statues holding flaming braziers before a set of golden doors in the background. Where those doors lead is a mystery for now. Trigger free spins, however, and all will be revealed… Visually, Volatile Egypt Dream Drop is tough to fault. It's unlikely to present anything Egyptian slot fans haven't seen before in one form or another, though it certainly won't repel them either with shoddy artwork.

This is the first time Fantasma Games has contributed to the Dream Drop lineup, and to do so, it has picked Ancient Egyptian as the game's theme. Not the most original idea, and Volatile Egypt Dream Drop's unoriginality is compounded by the fact much of the gameplay comes from Quickspin's classic slot Eastern Emeralds. Volatile Egypt Dream Drop doesn't push things as far as Eastern Emeralds did, though, in some ways. One of the main reasons is that in this game, multipliers are restricted to the three middle reels, compared to four in Quickspin's slot, leading to two things. The maximum possible multiplier in Volatile Egypt Dream Drop is much smaller, at most x336, compared to Eastern Emeralds' x1,680, and winning potential is reduced as a result. Put numerically, non-jackpot wins in Volatile Egypt Dream Drop top out at 6,533.8x the bet, while in the non-DD version, that figure is 7,117x the bet.

But, the assumption is the Dream Drop will be the main draw card around here anyway, so these complementary features and stats have less importance than they might have had. Assuming players are looking for the chance to take on the Dream Drop Jackpots in a traditionally presented Ancient Egyptian slot setting, then Volatile Egypt Dream Drop is about as solid as it gets. By default, though, really, since at the time of review, it was the only option available to satisfy both those needs. Volatile Egypt Dream Drop has a nice, clean look about it, fills the screen with rich imagery from the genre and has a funky beat heavy tune these sorts of games are famous for.

And so, it feels like Volatile Egypt Dream Drop has neatly fulfilled the objectives laid out by its creator when Fantasma Games set out to make its contribution to the DD line. It doesn't possess anything extraordinary, or anything particularly new for that matter, but if Egyptian-themed jackpot hunting is what you're looking for, then booyah, here it is.
