Warrior Graveyard: Slot Overview

While developer Nolimit City has built up a stack of blinders in their back catalogue, few hit quite so hard as Barbarian Fury. The game was an instant hit with players due to its brilliant blending of features and gameplay in a highly atmospheric environment. The studio has built on the success of Barbarian Fury, pushing aspects while creating a spookier vibe for the follow-up Warrior Graveyard. As well as bigger potential, Warrior Graveyard incorporates a few new tricks along with some truly heroic feature buy options.

Warrior Graveyard xNudge - base game

Where Barbarian Fury was all about taking on enemies, Warrior Graveyard deals with the more sombre aftermath. The less-celebrated tales of those that weren't successful on the day, succumbing to the victor's axe and ending up in a box. Some warrior cultures claim nothing is more glorious than dying on the battlefield, yet most people nowadays would question the belief. As such, it can take a bit more effort to fall for the cold blue-grey palette of Warrior Graveyard's scene than Barbarian Fury. Chains, rails, and graves surround a mist heavy 6-reel, 25-payline grid, while a rather unsettling soundtrack haunts the background.

Players take on Warrior Graveyard by selecting bets from 25 p/c to $/€100 per spin, across any device. Nolimit City is one developer which helpfully provides all the info players need upfront to determine whether a slot is right for them. One way is by displaying volatility on the home screen; in this case, it's high. The other key stat is the default RTP which is perfectly respectable on 96.16%. Some operators might drop that to 94.14% though, so make sure to check you're playing the best version before braving the boneyard.

Warrior Graveyard provides 10 pay symbols to work with, 5 low pay single position icons, and 5 full reel premiums. On the low side, we find hammers, axes, helms, shields and swords worth up to 3x the bet for six. Next, are five grim corpses buried in their battle gear in black, blue, green, brown, and red tones worth 3.3x to 6x the bet for six of a kind.

Warrior Graveyard: Slot Features

Warrior Graveyard offers similar features to those seen in Barbarian Fury but with several key upgrades. First up is xNudge Tombstone Wilds which are 3 position high symbols, appearing on reels 2 to 5. When they land partially in view, they are nudged to cover the whole reel. Each nudge increases a multiplier they carry by +1. More than one wild can land meaning a multiplier up to x12 is possible for wins as high as 1,800x on a single spin.

Warrior Graveyard takes the xNudge concept one step further in the Warrior Attack feature. This one occurs when three of the same premium symbols land either fully or partially in view. If partial, like the Tombstone Wilds, they are nudged into view increasing their win multiplier by +1 for each nudge. When all are completely in view, they shift to the leftmost reels for a win evaluation. xNudge Tombstone Wilds can also be present at the same time.

Like previous Nolimit slots, Warrior Graveyard packs two different free spin bonus games, one more hair raising than the other. The lesser one is Graveyard Spins, triggered when 3, 4, or 5 scatters land awarding 8, 10, or 12 free spins. Graveyard Spins use a win multiplier starting at x1 and increasing by +1 for every Tombstone Wild nudge. The multiplier does not reset between spins.

The second bonus is the ominously titled Death Spins, triggered when 6 scatters land. Here you get 14 free spins with a win multiplier starting at x1, increasing when Tombstone Wilds nudge as before. The difference now is Tombstone Wilds are locked in position for the duration of the round. Neither bonus game can be retriggered, though any scatter that lands adds +1 free spin.

Both free spins games are tantalising proposals, so Nolimit City has included a bonus buy option where these things are available. Shelling out 72x the bet gets you 3-5 scatters on the next spin awarding Graveyard Spins, or Death Spins can be had for a substantial outlay of 666x the stake.

Warrior Graveyard: Slot Verdict

Barbarian Fury's mix of attitude, theme treatment and gameplay was like a war hammer to the face, in a good way. If anything, Warrior Graveyard is even better, but it might take a little longer to warm to than the first. Testing started with a serious bout of very little going on, and the theme, especially the music, was downright disturbing. It was a different story once the game warmed up and found its rhythm, unleashing all sorts of thrills. The first eyebrow raising moment came during the Warrior Attack feature. The way premium symbols are rammed against the leftmost reel is one of those great ideas that seems obvious in hindsight.

From there things get even more intense. xNudges proved to be just as effective as before, plus the two bonus games provide all sort of ups and downs. They might take time to trigger naturally, so if you're in the mood for a punt, there's always the feature buy, if available in your jurisdiction that is. The massive all-in option of Death Spins might not be living quite as dangerously as Deadwood's Shoot Out Free Spins' infamous 750x price tag. Yet, there's no denying it takes a lot of nerve to activate, being just as controversial for many. One compensator perhaps is wins of up to 9,797 times the bet are now possible, more than the first slot, though it kind of has to be in follow-ups.

As mentioned, Warrior Graveyard might not instantly grab you like Barbarian Fury's brutal assault right out of the gate. Due to a theme so intimately concerned with death (and glory), it might take a few extra spins for Warrior Graveyard's charm to become apparent. Once it's got its hooks in though, Warrior Graveyard provides highly entertaining gaming, and picking up the challenge is every bit the shield wall its predecessor was. Both are moody, volatile machines that are tough to vanquish but hugely satisfying when successful.

Superb

Warrior Graveyard’s atmospheric battlefield is a great place to wage war, as long as you can handle some of the rigors of combat.
