There are no doubts developer Nolimit City possesses impressive innovation credentials, but the studio isn't totally above latching onto a trend when it sees a good one. The trend in question here is the grid multiplier movement, kick-started by the likes of Sugar Rush, before being joined by a wide variety of software providers since then looking to have a go, maybe cash in. Given Nolimit City's over-the-top reputation, it was no shock to see its contribution, Duck Hunters, turn out to be a big, wild, unruly beast with ludicrous multiplier values and infectious gameplay. So good was it, in fact, that it collected Game of the Year at the Bigwinboard Awards 2025. The studio followed up with Duck Hunters Happy Hour the following year, which was solid, if a little disappointing in that it didn't nudge the series along much. However, gamblers are now treated to a full-blown sequel, Duck Hunters 2, a game which manages to dial up the big, wild, unruly beasty-ness.

Where the original looked as though it took place in a back garden, Duck Hunters 2 has gone somewhere wilder and more out of control. Furthermore, where the ducks in Happy Hour were happy chugging on cocktails, this time, they've had enough of being shot out of the sky and are fighting back. With flamethrowers. Or, as the game info succinctly puts it, 'these feathered bastards ain't flying south no more. They're coming for us!' When they see who the ducks are coming for, players may well be rooting for the 'feathered bastards' as well. The base game is placid, well, the background is; the grid can explode at any moment, but upon entering free spins, the forest has been set alight and is well and truly ablaze. Enter with caution if you don't possess a beak and a pair of wings.

Duck Hunters 2 returns to the 6x5 gaming grid used in the original after Duck Hunters Happy Hour experimented with a non-flush set of reels. Scatter Wins

Players collect a payout when 8 or more matching symbols land anywhere on the grid. Winning symbols are removed, and a symbol drop occurs to refill the reels. An x2 multiplier is placed on positions where symbols were removed. If a position already has a multiplier, its value is doubled. A multiplier on a position can reach up to x16,384. Additionally, spins start with random multipliers added to the reels.

Special Symbols

• Wilds - Substitute for any regular paying symbol.
• xWays & Infectious xWays - xWays symbols transform into a regular paying symbol and increase the position multiplier by 2, 4, or 8 times. Infectious xWays cause the revealed xWays symbol to infect all of the other same symbols on the grid to expand to the same size. If more than one xWays or Infectious xWays symbols land, they transform into the same symbol.
• Bomb - Triggers after wins, removing itself and all symbols above it on its reel. The bomb increases the multiplier of its position by x2, the position one row above by x4, the following position by x8, and so on. Bombs explode before the next collapse, and explosions do not affect scatters.

Free Spins

Landing 3 scatters awards 7 Duck Hunt Spins, 4 scatters trigger 8 Hawk Eye Spins, and 5 scatters award 10 Big Game Spins. Position multipliers are kept during free spins. Landing an Extra +1 Shot symbol awards +1 spin. For Duck Hunt Spins, 1 of these 6 upgrades is awarded:

• Upgraded xWays - xWays symbols are replaced by Infectious xWays.
• Upgraded Bomb - Bombs remove themselves and all symbols above and below them on their reel, increasing position multipliers as in the base game.

xTra Spin

Nolimit Bonus Buys and Boosters

It has the same features as Duck Hunt Spins, but Infectious xWays is guaranteed to land on each spin, though no other upgrades are awarded during this feature except the Upgraded xWays. For 2,800x the bet, players can get 7 spins of Bomb Juicer, which has the same features as Duck Hunt Spins but the Upgraded Bomb is guaranteed to land on each spin. Duck Hunters 2: Slot Verdict

As far as grid multiplier games go, the first Duck Hunters slot was already a massive example of this style of play, boasting huge max multipliers on the grid and sizable winning potential to match. The chances were good that players were going to get a more expansive sequel, and Duck Hunters 2 certainly pushes things up a notch from there. One of the most obvious headliners is the freakish values possible by each position multiplier. Where the OG Sugar Rush tapped out at x128, and Duck Hunters could hit x8,192, this thing hits x16,000+. Overkill? Of course, but exciting overkill if you can get one or two, or more of them, lurking on the grid. Other changes aren't as drastic as that one, and the core structure of the game remains relatively untouched, yet there is no doubt Duck Hunters 2 is the wired-up, pre-heated, ready-to-pop, big bro of the series. So far, at least.

Winning potential has blossomed, as one would expect, and the 40,000x cap is a sizable figure to aim for, though it's maybe not as high as some may have been hoping for given the possible grid multiplier values getting as chunky as the ones here. The supporting cast of features is comparable to the past, including similar bonus structure and side modifiers, though the Bomb behaviour has been nicely altered. Another obvious new bit is the set of Side Hustles, first seen in Soaked By Seamen, adding an extra win/lose element as if there weren't enough options already. On top of that are the new xWays Juicer and Bomb Juicer, not to mention the extra xTra Bet halving multis for a reduced cost. Players who want to just pick a stake to wager can do that, but there are so many options bursting out of Duck Hunters 2 it's easy to feel suffocated with all the choices. It's like going to Vegas and finding slot machines at the airport, at petrol stations, near restrooms, anywhere they can squeeze one.

In some ways, on a core gaming level, Duck Hunters 2 is a case of if it ain't broke, don't fix it, but… Nolimit City has rammed a bunch of stuff on there to inflate it anyway. Those inflations certainly make for a bigger game, with a stack of ways to bet, though even when shunning them, the underlying Duck Hunters formula is as entertainingly volatile as ever. The enormous potential of the position multipliers makes cascades suspenseful, while the heavily armed supporting features mean any spin can suddenly turn into a feathered freak out.
