Foxpot: Slot Overview

Independent developer Foxium takes a break from designing slots full of quirky characters to create something slightly different. Foxium games tend to contain strong leading characters, such as tiny gods, vampires, leprechauns, pirates, and the like. Foxpot goes in the other direction. Here, players take the leading role in a slot that is all about having a virtual casino experience, spinning a teeny wee slot in the hopes of winning substantial rewards from a triggered prize wheel.

Foxpot - base game

Foxpot intrigues with quite an unusual appearance at first. This is partly from the rotating prize wheel in the back, partly from having just 1 row of symbols to do its thing on. It's not a totally unique premise; in fact, it's a lot like Master Joker from Pragmatic Play which also used a single line, prize wheel set up. Foxium has injected a healthy dose of personality into their slot by setting it in a colourful casino, dotted by physical cabinets, and using a cheesy game show host voiceover to announce key moments. Foxpot ends up as a shiny, exciting mash-up of several slots like Hit it Big, Hot Spin Deluxe, and the aforementioned Master Joker. It doesn't feel like a copycat though, rather one that mixes fun parts of other games while ensuring more than enough new elements have been included to invoke individuality.

Powered by the Microgaming platform, Foxpot comes in different RTP versions, where the most preferable has a value of 96.31%. Biggest wins by far come from the prize wheel where over half of the RTP has been allocated. Doing so could have made the base game drag, especially with an exceptionally low hit rate of 10.69%, except plenty of tension is provided over the way bonus symbols land. A medium volatile math model means Foxpot might not be quite thrilling enough for some, yet it doesn't prevent the game from delivering sizeable wins. Taking part in the show is possible on any device where bets from 20 p/c to £/€25 per spin.

Despite having four positions on the solo reel, only combinations of three of a kind are possible. This is because the fourth position may only land multipliers of x2 or x3, applied to current wins. The rest of the symbols are plums, lemons, watermelons, single sevens, double sevens, and triple sevens worth 1 to 25x the bet. Wilds are worth more at 40x the stake, while also substituting for any pay symbol. One little extra is that combinations of any three seven symbols trigger a payout.

Foxpot: Slot Features

Foxpot - Wheel

Line wins are fun and all that, but the main goal of Foxpot is triggering a spin on the prize wheel. This is possible when bonus symbols line up on the one reel. Helping players accomplish this task is a nudge feature, which randomly kicks in to nudge partial bonus symbols fully into view.

The prize wheel is split into three tiers. Landing 1, 2, or 3 bonus symbols provides a spin of each tier moving from money, to multiplier, then a respin chance accordingly;

  • 1 bonus symbol spins the money ring offering cash prizes plus three jackpots called Mini, Midi, and Foxpot worth up to 1,000x the bet.
  • 2 bonus symbols lets you also spin the second ring which awards a multiplier of up to x10 to be applied against whatever was won from the money ring.
  • 3 bonus symbols gives you a spin on the third ring which may award a respin to repeat the whole prize wheel procedure.

Foxpot: Slot Verdict

According to themselves, Foxium's goal was to provide land-based gaming in an online slot. It might feel a bit like a Crazy Tooth Studio endeavour at first, in a similar vein as Seven 7s, or The Incredible Balloon Machine. However, a few spins in and the game isn't as wacky as it might first appear. Having just one payline/row turns out to be not such a gimmicky approach, but actually, a great idea when combined with a prize wheel that's been well-executed.

Naturally, Foxpot won't be a hit with all players, yet a certain group will get a major kick out of what it does. Designing a casino on a device is pretty common, but some do it better than others. ReelPlay nailed it in Joker Super Reels, and Foxium does a good job of recreating the excitement of a live atmosphere. Its upbeat, jazzy, there's a positive attitude, and the voiceover drives the flow well, thus adding up to an experience that is easy to lose yourself in.

Even the prize wheel has been designed to work a little differently. The way only one bonus symbol is needed to unlock tier one, for example, is a nice touch, made even better when the second and third symbols give you a crack at a multiplier or potentially respins. Spins get pretty intense too. How many times does the wheel, just tick past a jackpot, or one of the higher multipliers to land on a lower one? On the other hand, sometimes the wheel makes that one movement needed to land right where you want it to for a decent payoff. If you were wondering, it is possible to score the Foxpot in conjunction with an x10 multiplier for wins of up to 10,000x the bet.

What really carries the game is the high production value. Everything sparkles, animations are slick, leading one game phase into another smoothly, all encompassed in a live environment. Potential is there, so for something a little unusual, using a game show vibe, it could be well worth rocking up to Foxpot on your device. With a bit of imagination, you can be there, in a busy casino, amongst the hopeful, spinning for some decent prize wheel action.

Good

Foxpot is a nod to the classic era of slots and a good way to scratch your itch if you’re missing the atmosphere of the land-based casino.
