Vampy Party: Slot Overview
If you were an immortal, as in you couldn't get sick or die, surely, eventually, you'd slide into complete boredom after having done and seen absolutely everything there is to offer? Presumably, this is one of the downsides to being a vampire, well, that and the need to murder the living in order to drink their lifeblood. One way a vampire might be able to stave off boredom is to throw a big party for all their friends. Even if the vampire in question doesn't end up having a good time, they can at least drag others down to their level of catatonic despair. Oh, the joy.
To be honest, Pragmatic Play's nosferatu slot Vampy Party looks like it might be a bit of fun. Vampy and his bat pal are having a party in a castle, decked out in flashing lights and bopping tunes. The game world timing appears to be either before the celebrations kick off or afterwards because the gothic stone room hosting the action is completely devoid of people, bats, and whoever else Vampy has invited. This hasn't completely obliterated the party atmosphere, though, in large part because of the sexy saxophone funk track, and the foam.
Getting jiggy in the middle of the room is a 3-4-5-5-4-3 game grid in possession of 3,600 ways to win. Above it is a multiplier trail, displaying its minimum and maximum values from the outset. A wide range of stakes are on offer, starting from 20 c and going up to a maximum of $/€240. Activating the ante bet increases the stake by a further 40% in order to have double the chance of triggering free spins. Maxing the RTP out at 96%, Vampy Party is a highly volatile slot.
Eight pay symbols, divided into 4 J-A card royals and premiums, appear on the reels. Combinations of 6 matching royals are worth 0.25 to 0.6 times the bet, while a combination of 6 glasses of suspicious red liquid, records, bats, or vampires pay 1 to 2.5 times the bet. Wilds replace any pay symbol. The tumble feature is responsible for removing winning symbols from the screen and dropping others down to plug the gaps. Tumbling continues in this vein until no new win appears.
Vampy Party: Slot Features
The lineup at Vampy Party includes a tumble feature, marked symbols, tumble multipliers, free spins, and feature buys.
Highlighted Symbols
At random on any spin, regular highlighted paying symbols may appear on random positions on reels 3 and 4. When winning combinations include highlighted symbols, they turn into wilds for the next tumble.
Tumble Multipliers
In the main game, a win multiplier starting at x1 is used. After each winning tumble, the win multiplier doubles up to a maxim of x1,024. The multiplier resets at the end of tumbles.
Free Spins
Hitting 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters triggers 12 free spins with a starting multiplier of x8, x16, x32, or x64, respectively. Before the feature starts, it is possible to gamble to double the starting multiplier or collect the value. Gambles occur on a segmented wheel. If the gamble is successful, the multiplier can be doubled up to x256. Losing gambles ends the bonus round altogether.
During free spins, all wins are multiplied by the starting multiplier, which doubles on subsequent tumbles up to x1,024. The multiplier resets to its starting value between free spins. Hitting 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatter symbols resets the spin count back to 12 and upgrades the starting multiplier by multiplying it with x2, x4, x8, or x16, respectively, up to x1,024.
Feature Buy
Free spins can be bought for 78x the bet for a 3 scatter trigger, 150x for a 4 scatter trigger, 288x for a 5 scatter trigger, or 128x for 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters.
Vampy Party: Slot Verdict
If you've ever had a massive all-nighter that's carried on into the next day, you may be aware of the dread brought about by creeping sunlight and chirping birds. Spare a thought then for vampires who are weakened, some say killed, in the same scenario. Vampy Party didn't put on the sort of shindig that prompted all night excess, but it was fun while it lasted. Part of its success has to be attributed to the double-up multiplier which functions a lot like Yggdrasil Gaming's DoubleMax mechanic, as debuted to spectacular effect in Raptor DoubleMax. The two systems are not completely the same, but you know, they're pretty close.
What sets them apart is that in Vampy Party, a wild symbol is not guaranteed to be placed in one of the removed winning symbols' empty spots. Also, the multiplier in Vampy Party is capped quite low. Well, x1,024 is far from low, but compared to DoubleMax, it is a rigid block. DoubleMax people may be turning their noses up in disdain at Vampy Party. Not only because, you know, this is a kind of a copy, but also because the multiplier resets during free spins rather than persisting into the stratosphere. For example, in Barbarossa Revenge, the multiplier can hit into the many thousands. Holding Vampy Party back is that when the multiplier grows in free spins, it does not stay at the higher level but drops back to its starting value, which cannot be increased once the bonus round has started. When comparing both systems and considering the 5,000x the bet win cap, Vampy Party does seem to come out as the limper of the two.
Admittedly, Vampy Party proved to be quite entertaining despite the comparative straitjacketing. And yet, it feels like we're being a bit polite too, like showing up to say hi at an acquaintance's little get-together out of a sense of social obligation, all the while knowing there's an immense gathering of bacchanalian proportions happening at your best mate's house across town.
Good
Vampy Party revels in effective features, though they do have a strong ring of familiarity to them.
